My feeling about the first photo is that the tree gives us a sense of scale and depth perception. I like it. But I would suggest cloning out, or erasing, the one little stick coming out of the ground in the foreground.
I also like the second image very much. It reminds me of turner paintings. |

I love this image. You took out the right things, it improved the composition.
I think it might be a little too muted. The original image is very small, but I think the contrast between the green of the bushes behind the triangular tree shape did add something. Just a thought. |

A beautiful, meditative picture. I assumed it was snow at first, that he was carrying a snowboard. I don't think it matters that that was my first impression. I love the lonely, meditative feel, the low angle, the sense that soon he will crest the top of that climb and then see a new vista below him. Great job!
You could experiment with adding a little contrast to differentiate sky from sand, but I'm not sure that would add anything. |

Hey Catherine, I would love to know where this was taken.
You found a great location. Great stuff posted to that wall, I find myself enlarging different bits, trying to read what's on the posters.
I assume you had to wait a while for the exact right people to pause in the most interesting way.
I love the diagonal lines and the use of black and white.
I can't think of any way to improve it. |

I feel like this month everyone is at the top of their talent! This picture stands out to me because of the textural detail, the triangular composition, and most of all, the vivid moment captured. Amazing!
You could try isolating the trees in the background and see if you can add bokeh to them in Photoshop. There is already a bit of bokeh effect but you could see if enhancing it adds anything. |

Henry, this picture is very inspiring! First of all, congrats on setting out to do something and doing it! Second, I love your technique. Sometimes we get mist off the canals here in Florida and I have always wondered what would be the best way to photograph it. I will try your technique next time I get a chance.
I'm not sure I would do anything differently. I experimented with cropping off the top, but really I like it better your way. Great picture and thanks for the inspiration! |
