You did well hand holding at 1/250 sec 600mm. I always like it when the bird is doing something and in this case the raised wings just does that, Well done Pierre. I was beginning to wonder if you folks had pelicans over your way especially ones with a lot of white showing. |

Dean I agree that this was a perfect pic to convert into a b&w, it enhances and makes it stand out well. I agree that i would crop the sides a little. I like the reflections, good on you. |

Great job using an i phone. I do agree with the crop and lifting the colour a little. Pity the day was not a little more suited to taking pics. I agree with Brenda's comments above Jacob. |

Thanks Pierre for your comment. I do agree with you that a little more on the left would be good. I did not have any more on the left though. I will have a n attempt to add a little in Photoshop. |

Mervyn again you have done well. The relationship between the mother and the baby has been well capture. The junior having its beak open is a plus. The diffused background lets the birds stand out. |

Great colours Brenda and the reflections just make it, good job. The only suggestion I would make is I may have had a little more on the left of the pic. |

Thanks for your interest Brenda, I use a Nikon D800, When I take bird that are white I usually like to shot at 1/2000 sec at f8. ISO 200 or 400 (that suits the Aust Light). I don't like to go much higher ISO because of noise. I am interested in cameras that reduce the noise. What cameras have you found that do this? Having said all that this pic was taken as above. The reason being that it was early morning and the conditions were a little dark. I did not use a tripod, I find them too restricting. i did pan concentrating on the birds eye. I don't take multiple shots I would rather concentrate on the bird and wait until the conditions are as I want them. I agree with you and could have left a little more space in front of the bird. I did crop a little off the back, but the pic I am presenting is full frame and there was no more in front. I guess I could add a little to the front using Lightroom. |
