Hi Brenda by the sounds of it you have been to Aus. On a flight to Miami my wife and I were awe struck when the Hostess said "Howdy y'all" with such a broad accent.
No need to worry Brenda, this is the only bird pic I have with a clipped wing. I have tucked away many more with out dismembered parts. I am already loving this group.

Thanks Candy I value your comment and having looked through the quality of the work you all have posted over time I count myself luck to be included in the group. |

Pierre thanks for the kind encouragement and the constructive advice. You summed things up perfectly. My passion is for wild life but I do have some real outback landscapes having travelled some of the less travelled gravel roads. |

Thanks for the comments Donna I respect your comment after having viewed many of your photos. I made a mistake in sending the file to Mervyn. I only sent the file as 80KB. Also I was influenced by my local camera club who suggested the crop I posted. Below is the way I thought it should look, focusing on the eye and the blood on the beak. |

Donna great shot I like the the way you have placed the heron and the lighting on the greenery just below and in front of the heron it seems to give a depth to the shot. Beautifully sharp. |

Candy it seems to me that you have created a work of art. I like the lines, lighting and the choice of contrast. |

Thanks Mervyn. The shot was taken just south of Birdsville along the Birdsville Track. I used a Nikon D800 with a Nikon 500mm lens. I did pan the shot in order to track the bird. 1/600 sec f8. On my computer the eye is razor sharp, I must learn how to send the pics a little better.

I don't think there is much more that I can add to what has already been said. A magnificent capture cropped perfectly and what a portrait of a magnificent animal. Can only imagine that it must have been fantastic to have been in its company. I often think that taking photos is a good excuse to seek out great places and the photo often takes second place to the environment. |

Great shot. I love bird life and you have captured the detail well. I am also curious as to where you get such photos. Love the fluffy leg, what a bird. |

Great shot. Displayed the wings well with great colors and well focused. It is not easy getting nature to respond to our wishes but it would have been great if the flowers were behind the butterfly in my view. |

Hi guys great to be in your group. Very easy on the eye and what a great spot and shot. The saturation does not bother me overly.I agree with Dean and wonder if the picture could be rotated a little to the left. |
