Song by the Ducks (Neil Young) The Ducks (formerly known as the Jeff Blackburn Band) were a short-lived American rock group formed in the summer of 1977 by singer-songwriter Jeff Blackburn. The band included Bob Mosley (an original member of Moby Grape), Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, and Johnny Craviotto. The band played a series of impromptu bar gigs around the Santa Cruz area in 1977. Probably nobody else ever heard of it either! |

Hi Suzy, I like all the work you have shown in this image. Your creative assets will be something I will be able to learn from. I hope your future descriptions will include more information on how you did it. i.e. how you created your tree, snow and cloud brushes, why you made the bushes gray in the front of the building, etc.
This image is nice, the masking top notch, but would benefit from a more lived in destination. The cold scene, plus a delapidated building leaves me cold and gloomy, which I don't think was your intent.
Welcome to DDG 18. |

Thanks, Ian, I do love to play, learn, and it keeps me younger, I think. |

Thanks, again, Gunter. I worked on this more in PS and Topaz, and added several filter layers and style changes. As I stated in my comment on Ian's image this month, I wonder where all the photo manipulation will take us, PSA, and photography in general. |

Thanks, Gunter. I struggled this month to add an image. I like your version, and as soon as I recover my health, I'll retry to make this creative. |

Hi Ian, If I understand the question you have posed to us, if you take two mundane images, combine them, and then add technical filters and color changes, have you created art from photographs or from technology.
If that is the case, then I would say we should use the tools available to make art from a vision used to make the photograph.
If you are pointing out that you can indeed take two ordinary images, use processing tools to "create" a colorful and imaginary swirl of leaves, and how does that help meet the criteria of being a better photographer? I agree it does not.
AI is here to stay, and who knows what the results will be, and its effect on photography.
Meanwhile, as far as your image this month, I agree with Ian that it hasn't been pushed too far at all. It just lacks any inspiration and could be stronger with added elements to tell a story. |

Hi Robin, Happy New Year. Creative version of the artist's proof drawing. I've never been a fan of Borders, and yours cuts off the feet of the crowd. I would have liked to see your background image but appreciate inclusion of the drawing. I think a gradient could harmonize the (somewhat) voyeuristic image. I added a couple of warming gradients to your image. |

As a work of creative art, I love it, Gunter. Highly creative, sharp, cohesive, and colorful. The falling boat is perfectly done.
I do have two suggestions that you might consider.
One is that the drain is lost being tilted ninety degrees. It looks more like a hat to me. The story may be over my head, and it is supposed to be a hat. Does the title refer to the song?
Second is the lower right corner where artifacts remain from the remove tool (tree or bush.) |
