Thanks, Kate. Your comments have cemented Robert's comments for me. This IS an "I've been there shot!" Glad you enjoyed it. I even tried to Bar BQ outside our cabin once, and found out quickly that smoke may settle bees, but has no effect on mosquitos. |

No. I was focused on the falls. I was still struggling with compositions at this time. |

Thanks, Gloria. You too have good ideas for this image. I appreciate your comments and will consider if post will allow me to fix an image best retaken. I cropped the trees more, and added a little contrast to the rainbow. |

Thank you, Haru. I do like your crop and adjustments better than mine. I struggled with saturation on this image. The only change I am considering is that to me it looks better with no sky at all. Your thoughts? |

Hi Gloria,
I like the composition a lot. Like Dan said, a tighter crop might help. You have several S-curves in the water I would keep. My crop was too tight to the third post, but I couldn't successfully clone out whatever that triangle is behind it. Looks like it could be an artifact from a clone clean up.
It could be interesting to be around in a thousand years and see the changes in our coasts. I had to moor five miles out in Tunisia because the Mediterranean is so shallow there, and the Rift lakes in Africa will replace it. |

Hi Dan,
Thank you for the title explanation. I've learned my lesson and won't research your titles again. I overthink things too often.
The pad colors are well done, and well lit. The crop matches the Golden Spiral, as does the lighting. The tails add an interesting element. I'm unsure about the debris and dead areas on the pads. Nature isn't perfect.
Your work on the pond is amazing and the color choice is perfect.

Hi Robert,
I have been caught at Mt Rainier when storms can turn a fall or even summer day into a murderous storm. Your captures are a marvelous image. Fantastic color, depth, and composition. Your work is an inspiration to me. |

Hi Kate,
I grew up in Ohio, so the Midwest has always been a home to me. Iowa is a little flat except around the Big Muddy, but I like the image a lot. The only suggestion I have is to do a little dodging and burning in the levels of the fields and sky to add some depth. It is a bit flat for me. A curves adjustment layer is straightforward, or for D&B a 50% gray layer, mask and brush where you want. |

Hi Haru,
Does this composition work for you?
I find it a little distracting that there are two vertical and two horizontal halves to the image. Choosing a quarters? overlay in LR shows what I am talking about. I would consider a crop from the left.
Help me to understand your eye travel.
The bright white of the horizontal branch leads my eye from left to right to the great fall color.
Is the left side too bright and distracts your eye?
I don't think it is too bright, just too large an area. My eye ping-pongs around the four quarters of the image.
Any idea to make this better WITHOUT cropping?
Pop the colors a little bit. Clean it up if you decide it is too busy. I get a little bit weay trying to view all the branches and twigs. |
