Doors and windows, framing, repetition, focused, properly exposed...what more can be done to make an excellent image. I love this composition. Great job. I did a little tweaking , mostly for my own pleasure. Wish this were my shot. I tried dodging the stairs to separate it. |

Looks like a nicely framed landscape to me. If you'd had a tripod, a longer exposure would have made the water more soft and fluffy which enhances the scene. One of the features of post is to add depth to the image. Just using a dodge and burn brush in LR or PS to guide the viewer to where you want them, or guide them around a landscape can really make a difference. It does take time away from being out shooting, but also rewards you with a better image. Except for 3D camera's you have to use post to make the scene look the way you want and add the depth artificially in a 2D image. This may be a little too vivid for your taste, but just adding the work and a radial to guide the viewer through the bridge and all the way back into the forest adds to your wonderful composition. |

For everyone:
I deleted Judy's second redundant comment, but I'm not sure where her original comment may have gone, but I have noticed and corrected several doubled up comments/replies. **Make sure that you refresh the page when looking at new posts you make.**
When I make an edit or delete your comments/replies in the admin dashboard I sometimes get weird results.
Thanks |

As far as the horizon issue, I suppose a border around the image might help. Especially on a black background like this page. |

The Knolls Tour was cancelled because of the icy/snowy roads in I think the Tower area. From PSA_"We will be happy to refund you the $35.00 fee for the Knolls Night Sky tour that was not able to take place because of the inclement weather." I think we did see that story. A big reason tourists have a bad rep. |

Good job!
To include the feathers that you didn't get, or cropped out, here is the refine edge tool. https://www.evoluted.net/thinktank/design/quickly-select-hair-in-photoshop-cc-using-select-and-mask. It is a little more work, but keeps your images competitive.
You learn very quickly. |

I not only saw the head, but also a woman's body. I think it is sharp, color is great and exposure is correct. Very similar to a previous image that did well in competition. Bill's wish is my command. I also dodged the body I see. Please don't twitter my chauvinism! |

Having had to give up my Nikon for a lighter system, I have found that the Fuji processors do seem to provide different images, partly to mimic their films, and partly because their database of comparative images are different from Nikon's. The color is love it or hate it, much like Leica, in my opinion. I think every Japanese camera uses Sony chips now, so it's just a matter of the processing. Fuji makes terrific lenses, at a reasonable price, and that why I switched.

Obviously (to me) the background needs to be replaced, and would be easier than trying to clone out just the rail. Either way I think making a good selection will be required. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/remove-replace-background.html is a good video and steps for replacement, but there are many YouTube videos available. I still recommend f64 (Blake Rudis) for learning how to use PS best. The video show using black to see the selection, but changing the color to fit your image during selection is easy. It looks like you have already tried cloning on the white baseboard or whatever it might be, as I see a lot of lighter and darker areas. When you finish a color grade or gradient can tie the whole image together. Hope this helps. |

I too like your window. Nothing better to start a story than a door or window. I like Jim's version too, I think because it minimizes the weaker plants on the right. That being said, I think the window is too small in the frame, which makes Jim's crop better too. Fine detail everywhere and the exposure is spot on. I used a glow to kind of soften everything to give you another option. Good job as always. |

Pretty long exposure for a handheld shot. Kudos on that and your sunset is pretty fabulous. It appears that you added a matte finish. It appears that you have a straight horizon too. I too find the two lights a little distracting. See if you like a more contrasty image. |

Yeah, that's been our weather to all of February and March. So much for the temperate rain forest. Not sure what you mean by the second shot. |

I don't know if I can help much, but my Fuji is a cropped sensor so it is much different than your full frame D750. I'll show you an image from about 45 minutes earlier. The people look small, but they weren't all that far away. I cropped the bottom since it was too large a silhouette base. The interest for me was the sky. The September weather at SLC varied from 92-43. The cancelled tour was at least 2000-3000 ft higher, and Dorinda took some snow images from our hotel room, while we we waiting for the expected announcement that the last tour would be cancelled. We were to go above the city for some night shots of the Milky Way. Very disappointed. Utah has the 3rd highest average elevation in the US at 6100', or about 700' higher than the highest point in Nebraska. My son wears shorts all year around, even in the snow. He's a California kid. |

You are right about the sunlight (and the air quality too.) I thought about removing the gate(s) but then the vast herd of bison might enter the visitor area! Good ideas as always, Paul. |

You are right. I'm afraid my foot was keeping me on the bench and that is why this is a lazy effort. I guess it just isn't a shot I can use. |

That definitely would have helped. (I'm using Dorinda's laptop and forgot to sign her out and me in.) |

I think that you have reached your goal of "master" photographer. I viewed your website and loved the images there. I must suggest that you get a new, friendlier looking, mug shot though. Thanks for all your wonderful comments . I'm learning a lot from you. |

I don't know if the higher moon would be believable to you, but it would be to me. Except for PJ and Nature Divisions the creator has more options to create either what she wants, or what she sees. That decision is always yours.

Please be critical. I need the ideas. It really was't that pretty an area, just a previously working farm on an isolated island. A lot of bison on the island though, and they surrounded the ranch. |

You really do present us with beautiful images. Thank you. The colors are terrific, exposure is well done, and I think the reflections in the "Mississip" adds interest. I'm not so sure about the foreground shrubbery. I might crop them out. Maybe Moonrise over Hernandez spoiled me, but I prefer moons to be higher in the sky. Just a personal preference. I did level the shoreline, even if it may actually be tilted, I think in images things need to be level. I did move the moon and it's reflection, just for a comparison. |

I'm thinking that the other Bob in DDG 33 has developed a liking for the tracks! Cool S-curve capture. I wish our weather had been better, but at least you got out. Not a lot of color to generate interest, so I think a B&W might work. |

I like the image as presented, but in my opinion the moon as placed makes the image bottom heavy. The color and exposure are really good, and I think the focus is also. My eyes are getting tired and I struggle with clarity. Anyway, I like the composition. I used the content aware move tool and re-located the supermoon. I also darkened the sky a little. |

I love the coastal waters, I don't even care which coast. I think your image is sharp, well exposed, and a good composition. You have a good eye, and that will go well for your future.
I might suggest starting out with Adobe Lightroom (or do the Photography Creative Cloud) as the learning curve is not as steep as Photoshop, but will give you lots of tools to process your images and also allow you to create a good database of your images.
My copy of your image was done in LR only. I just added a little warm color.

This winter has been too cold for me, and your image makes me feel the cold. Sharp, great color, and contrast. I don't think I'd change anything, but I did create a B&W just to see if it had any appeal for you. Glad you are able to get out a little. |

Very intriguing image, Paul. I agree with Marilyn that it could do well in PJ. I've included a quick B&W from LR, as suggested by Ken. I also assume SEPA has some effect on your air quality, although if like ours. probably not a whole lot. |
