In my case it looks like I "pinked" all he extremities too. I hope my 5 year old monitor isn't losing it's ability to be color managed. Probably just operator error. Karen's and the original just have some overexposed areas. |

I tried boosting the colors, but it didn't look natural to me. It is a shame since the past two years have been really up to par. |

I re-sized the image to 1080-768 but it didn't fix the pixelization in the sky, but for the time of day, and shooting in choppy water, you did quite well. |

Definitely has the brownish look of winter. You might need to crop the top for competition, but who knows. I sure haven't been successful, even with all your guys help. I also removed the yellow cast, but not much else. Good luck! |

Very pretty portrait Stephen. Not sure how you "washed" the area, but it does look washed! It you work day times in Bora Bora, you are stuck with bad light. The best I can do is maybe brush with a color brush, as I did here in LR at least adding some blue to the sky. Her hair should probably have some contrast added too, but I didn't try it. Okay, I'm trying that too! Sorry she didn't win, but I guess that's life too. |

I do all our prints at home, so I am not limited in any way.
Dorinda doesn't really crop to any size at all, except for the club projector. |

The X100F has a fixed 23 mm lens. It was all I could lift at this time, |

I agree with Karen about the rule of thirds, which is a starting point, but not a real rule. Dynamic Symmetry is a deeper form of design and can be found all over the internet. I think your image is sharp, nice colors, and properly exposed, but I think it needs some work. I am a fan of removing wires in PS using the healing brush, getting rid of the waste can and fluorescent light. I might also crop down to at least the bottom of the ceiling patches, but maybe lower if you want the carousel to be the center of attention. . |

The encounter included him sticking his heads inside the car on Dorinda's side and grabbing the trail mix bag from her. We had trail mix everywhere!
Composition is perfect. I might tone down (burn) the sunlit areas since everything is in focus. Cute critters except when they bite. |

Thank you. I have found during my cropping that there are smaller images that may be usable, with some work. Your observation about the sky is interesting to me, because in out travelling experience we have found so many different hues of blue in the sky. |

Your comments are IMHO more from the "artistic" narrative which I greatly appreciate, and my strengths and narratives lean more towards the technical side. I will be able to learn much from your comments. Thank you. |

Excellent work Elizabeth. Rain makes for terrific reflections. Sharp, and well composed. I was going to comment on the gold, but I guess that is what is is. thought the sky was too gold though, so I toned it down (burn). See if you like the change. You may not like my crop, but as you said the lights are kind of overpowering. |

Another option for DR issues, especially for a midday shot is to convert the image to B&W. See if you like it. I also added a small crop on the sides. Anatone was REALLY small. I had never heard of it. Google helps to learn, at least sometimes. I agree with what Elizabeth said about the technical aspects. Great job. |

You definite got the feeling you were looking for. Your image is very sharp, the water is level on the mountain, and the only small criticism I may have is the snow looks a little bluish to me. Maybe that what it should be way up north, or maybe the snow was reflecting the clouds. I love the latest version of LRCC, but I still take everything into PSCC to use the masks. Excellent image. |

Welcome back my friend. Hope you are feeling better. This image so reminds me of a pass in West Maui. I really like the color, shapes and the mood that you have captured. Excellent work. |

We visited this area when our daughter and son-in-law were still living in Reading. The Private gate sign is in perfect focus and while the entry is not level, I'm sure it is that way, as all the rest is level. English gardens are the envy of the world, and you have captured a beauty. The house and bush in the foreground are a little overexposed in my opinion. I reset the B&W points and increased the clarity a tad. See if you like the minor changes to a lovely shot. |

No offense was taken. I had thought this wasn't a good image to begin with, which is why I submitted it. I was hoping there was something to salvage, and that the group might help with that. Everyone's comments have helped, but I'm afraid I still can't see any hope for this one, which you have pointed out. Bad light, no subject makes for bad photos. I might try some massive crops. I completely understand. Thanks all. |

I'm not sure how to respond to your question. It is a landscape. Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes, so I guess what is left after the massive eruption in 1980 was my subject.
In all fairness, the question does answer whether it is competitive. |
