The composition is really good, and your narrative really sad. Sharp, good exposure, and good detail. I don't think I could improve it, but here is a higher contrasty try. Excellent image. |

Thanks for all the comments. I liked the drama as is in the sky, mostly because the rain muddies part of the sky. I wish I had not cropped the top of the clouds, in camera, as I don't have any more, although I might try a new sky later. I did crop the bottom to eliminate some brightness, and burned the bare spot. It is funny to me that I had reduced the contrast, and clarity, but I like the changes you all suggested. If you can find the time in future months, if you attach an image with your suggestions, it might help us all. Same size as always. Just click on the thumbnails and you'll open a full sized page. |

Outstanding composition. Sharp and moody. Sometimes the red rock in the west bothers some people, but I love it. When the sky is cloudless, a nice little moon helps. If I try as suggested and increase the exposure somewhat, I get an image that probably was there an hour or so later. Not as moody as yours, in my opinion. I hope you get to go back without the group, but the later it becomes the more the sleepyheads show up. You did a great job removing the people. |

I've never seen anything like this, Ken. I love panos, but that shouldn't be held against me. Your image is sharp, colorful and exposed well. I like the edges being burned, and I think you did just enough. The color of the sky is not a color we see in the Pacific NW, but it might be accurate. In my opinion, I'd like a little more. Well composed pano. |

I am not very good with photojournalism, so I cannot comment on what could make the image more powerful. Maybe have a before image insert, and convert this part to B&W, dodge and burn a lot, and have the before in color. Your narrative supports the theory that the world is overpopulated and can no longer sustain itself. Just my opinion. I expect all lands will continue to be lost to growth. We do seem to be able to develop the technology, when needed, to keep mankind in this world. |
