I'd rather have blow-out (I prefer high-key) than the mottled grey that comes when we try to over-process. Maybe our little group can change the way PSA thinks. Not bloody likely! In my case, I was more worried about the apparent highlights on her left arm and face, where some detail is missing. Not a great problem for me though. We are stuck in PSA with the Cowles's and Jenkins' version of the perfect portrait. I much prefer this to their studio portraits. |

See you on Spokane. Not really like the NW, but only a 5 hour drive away. Hope it doesn't burn too badly next year over there. |

Nit-picks really. I make the assumption when I comment that we are submitting images for PSA competition, which of course, not all do. |

Really, Really sharp and detailed. Not much to do except I'll try some of the above recommendations, although it sounds to me like you have all the bases covered. |

Your image to me brings up a couple problems with guided tours when traveling. Too many tourists and too little time. I like the composition, but agree it needs to be cropped on the bottom and right side. The exposure seems a little overexposed to me. Sharp image, especially being hand-held. |

Your composition is really fine. The colors pop, and the mood is perfect. In furtherance of Judy's critique, I would have you consider a landscape crop. All the lines are horizontal, and lend itself to a horizontal crop. There isn't anything of great interest in either the top or bottom that needs saving, in my opinion. |

Beautiful interior shot, Judy. The lighting adds a lot of depth. The sharpness and color is terrific. I agree with Karen that wide angle building shots need some perspective correction. The sliders in PSE lens correction can be used to accomplish Karen's corrections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of7V155BSt8
contains a video on the process. See you in SLC. |

I think you accomplished all your goals with this image. It is sharp, the tones are correct to me, and the colors are terrific. The highlights are just a little blown out, so in PS I lowered them. I also cleaned up some of the darker stones on the beach, just because it is simple to do. I also used the patch tool to make the surf constant in the background on the left of the model.
FYI-You can click on the thumbnails we give you and they will open in a new full size screen. |

There is no right or wrong, just different. I left the afternoon sun (they have a sun even on the Oregon coast) bright to lead to the Lighthouse. I don't think there is a tilt right. but I wouldn't want viewers to think the lighthouse is going to fall left onto the people. The slope leads to the people, who then point to the cormorant, then around again via the sun. I admit to not liking the bright spot next to the lighthouse catwalk in your version. It holds my eye and keeps my eye from making the loop I intended. |

Sorry, it is just the very tip of the haystack. I looked at the raw jpeg and there is no green. That was introduced in Topaz studio as part of that processing. Probably a gradient I used for the sky. I see it on the Lighthouse windows also. I'm not a documentary photographer. I enjoy trying to make images that are more indicative of how I felt. Some safety glass does have a green tint though. Topaz Studio is pretty powerful, and meets my needs. DxO is now charging for its Nik software, so I just go from LR to PS to Topaz and back to LR for export as my workflow. Glad your brother would like it. I love lighthouses too. I would always spot them from the deck and remember where they were so I knew land direction to go if my ship sank. |
