I think you're right about the color. You either have to arrive early or stay late to get the light that isn't flat. Not possible with standard tours. One must pay big bucks to be abused by rising early or going to bed later. Oh, to be 20 again! |

Posterization effect (from Corel)
Typically when editing images we want to avoid posterization, that's the banding effect sometimes seen when manipulating images with a low bit depth. It shows up as distinct and abrupt areas of tone, or bands, rather than the smooth transitions that are normally associated with a photograph. The effect resembles the process once used when making posters, hence the name.
Deliberate posterization can be a pretty dramatic look that's often associated with pop art. Think of the iconic Andy Warhol images and Ché Guevara posters. However, it's easy to overdo, so it's best not only to pick your subject carefully but also to try and limit the number of images in any single slideshow. It's an effect that the viewer can soon tire of. Images that work well are often of the most simple of subjects with little detail but boldly defined colors and features. |

I definite would not remove the leaves as the green really compliments the yellows and reds. |

Curves being a powerful tone adjustment brought out the whites, light areas and darkened the rest. I really didn't try to match the color of what I saw, which is the original. I'm trying to find where my images can be competitive before my time ends. I was pretty sure the petroglyph was real, I just couldn't find a match. I thought it looked like a Thunderbird, but the wings/arms were wrong. Thanks for your comment. |

Another terrific shot, Bill. Black and white is perfect for the subject. Very sharp (for a Nikon!) exposure is great and noise level well managed. I cropped a little from the right and top to match the nice triangle on the left. Good storytelling image. |

Great composition, Jim. Except for the lovely spring weather you are having, I envy you this area. I think the color is great, imaged is sharp and exposure is right on. I do like it more centered because of the subject. I cropped your watermark and the pathway off the bottom. They were a little distracting to me. I didn't increase saturation, but did add an overall warming filter. Great shot. |

Very good composition. Color is good and it looks sharp to me. I suppose that the environment made you crop the sides closer than normal. Exposure is a little off, as there are some feather areas that have no detail. The flat lighting doesn't help in that regards. Nice interactions between the egrets. I'm not really a nature/wildlife expert so my opinion is probably moot. |

I really like this abstract. Color, sharpness and composition are all spot on. I tried some things in LR and PS, but didn't produce anything better, or as good. Terrific job in my opinion. |

I know what you mean. It really is a good composition. I'm not sure about the sharpness either. I used the HSL slider to lower the luminosity of the green, slightly shifted the flower to the left to add a little tension, and removed some orange spots from the leaves. I couldn't figure out the black areas through the leaves, so I used the patch tool in PS CC to try to smooth the area out. I assume it may be from trying to install/clean the black background. I think it has great potential. |

Small world after all. My deceased brother Dave started hid construction company in Bradenton before moving to Sebring. I know the area quite well. I find that abstracts hard to find an audience. I like this one with the caveat that I do not understand the red arm extension through his leg. The gulls lead us to the subject nicely. I might remove the first one though, as I think it competes with the subject. Lots of potential with this very nice composition. I had to play, just for a slightly different effect. |
