It is a little dark for me. I think it needs cropped to remove the blown out sky. I think it may be possible to save some of the rays before cropping, but I don't know how. Pretty good image for a phone, especially at this huge dynamic range. If your iPhone has HDR capabilities, this would be the place to try it out. I suppose a crop of the top would save the rays, which I assume is a plus for you. If you click on the image it will make it large enough to see the minor changes I made. |

Thanks, Good ideas. I must re-learn the Fuji controls since I was inactive so long. I must admit I ran out of gas a lot tromping in the sand. The Washington coast doesn't have much in the way of sandy beaches. |

Excellent exposure and color. I like the simplified image. As far as I can tell(which isn't far yet) it looks sharp. Glad you guys are okay. |

Yeah, I was talking about physically removing them. I seldom think about arranging the shot, but I should more often. |

All the smoke from wildfires in eastern Oregon was being blown into the coast, so the skies were extremely hazy, and we couldn't breathe here for weeks. Same thing in Washington when we got home. Late summer has been a disaster almost everywhere. Still haven't heard anything from Tam. |

I am afraid it is at least one person, if not a couple. My eyes are still a little blurry. Judy's crop removes them, so I may crop if I decide to enter it in competition. I don't know if I would have used this wide angle lens if I could carry my T-2 on the beach. It was all we could do to navigate the dunes. |

I love the colors, your cropping, and you have a winner here in my book. Great image. I agree that it is most definitely dramatic. |

Really great composition, Karen. The green and orange works well together. In my opinion, I think the background is just too vivid. I think it competes too much with the flat green of the leaves. If toned down, I think that they are blurred sufficiently. |

I love the colors. Your composition is terrific. I never seem to know whether to leave the twigs or remove them from the old crumbling bench. In my opinion this image is really colors as subject and the twigs are a distraction for me. What do I know, though. |

I think abstracts are extremely difficult. Our eyes are drawn to sharp and bright areas. You have both in this image. It makes it hard to be an abstract if you can tell what the subject is. In this case the thorns appear to be the subject to me, and so it just looks too soft. In my opinion the bright areas need to be darkened, and the thorns need to be all blurred and distorted in post to make this a decent abstract. Play around and see if you can find something you like. |
