I've got to get back to shooting, but I think an essay is something I would like to get into. I am starting to recover from the last couple years, and getting my attitude back. Thanks for all the help. I used the radial gradient to add light, no flash or light. |

I think my D800 and 24-70 mm lens were the perfect balance for me at that time. There was a fence that kept us from getting too close to the petroglyphs, so I ended up with a pretty good crop too. Thanks for noticing. |

Thanks, Karen. Everything is still pretty fuzzy for me, but Thursday I get the cataract in my left eye removed, so that will begin my return to sharpness, I hope. My right one will be replaced sometime after that depending on my reaction. |

You are correct that there was no need on my part to crop. Your image is fine as submitted. I was just checking your crop in LR to see what you might have used. I ran across the golden spiral, and it seemed like a flower might be a good fit. I have a lot of flowers to shoot, and I was wondering about this crop pattern.I'm glad your roses are doing well. Ours are at their peak. Is this a Betty Boop? |

I'm with Jim on this one. Probably the best anyone could do. You caught the action perfectly, excellent tension created by the diagonals and the colors are perfect. Cropped really well too, in my opinion. Terrific work. |

I seem to be in a mood to edit images today. I can't comment on sharpness yet, but I think the reds, greens and yellows work together well. Flash might help on macro shots, but macro's have not been something I've tried much. Fuji does not really have a good macro lens, so I doubt I;ll get involved. I love other peoples images though. I applied a golden spiral frame while cropping this in LR. Does anyone like the resulting crop? |

Very good diagonal lines, texture and contrast. Much like Karen's image the light is flat, but you are limited by the time your ship makes it to the fjord. |

Gorgeous area, gorgeous shot. It is always hard to impress judges with flat lighting on landscapes. Your shots are always technically spot on.This one is no exception. |

Since you braved a trip to the Ukraine, I'm glad you shared the image. Probably not what you wanted, but I think it might work as an abstract of sorts. It was fun playing with it. Eastern Europe really has a lot of Oriental and Mid Eastern influence. |

I agree with Karen, that this is probably a creative snapshot, rather then a competitive piece. Anyway, just as a comment, here in the Northwest, outdoor theaters have never been really popular. Too wet, and too many late sunsets. Just fooling around, I did crop out some of the more distracting areas, and hopefully still told the story. |
