Lecture alert*****
I know when I speak of "acceptance" I'm talking PSA competitions, not anything else. I think we all want some validation we are on the right track, and to make our images more appealing to others. Some of our group do want advice on competition, and I encourage those comments in DDG. I don't compete, except with Dorinda and in our club, but I'm not in her league. I do make changes based on others comments though, and find specific changes to be most helpful. ***** Trying to keep my sense of humor through this ordeal. |

And I thought I disliked them because they congregate in all our parks, and foul(no pun intended) the shore. I am not graceful anywhere! |

Don't sell yourself short. You haven't really been that interested in processing your images until now. I think as you see the possibilities, you'll advance quickly. That's part of why we all join. |

I accidentally loaded Bill's February image into January for a moment. The January image is titled Wine Press. |

Looks like a long jet engine. Probably wouldn't fly on grapes though. Nice complementary colors too. Great exposure, must have been a cloudy day in wine country. I think I still prefer the Lucille Ball wine press though. I added a little vignette to isolate the background, and also subtracted some vibrance to make it look more aged. See if you like it. Except for some of the French, I really love France too. Bread, cheese and wine, and a temperate climate.
The beginning of the year might be a good time to calibrate our monitors too. |

Beautiful cat, beautiful light, beautiful image. Should get lots of acceptances. I think we'll see you on the ROPA lists along with Judy and Jim. |

I think geese and gulls are disgusting birds, but wonderful subjects. Well placed in the frame, and technically well done as is your strength. I added light to the birds eye too, as that seems to be a focal point for judges. The fog and his facing away didn't help you much or a catchlight. |

I hope we are always honest in the group, or we can't help each other get better. We already know we may not always be perfect!
i think even though his expression is silly, the image is so well shot technically, that it has potential. Judy has all the PSA letters after her name for a reason. PJ might work as news, features, man and man's environment, human interest, and other topics all are included. |

*The misspelled words in the how I did it are my error, not Ellen's. Not sure why they are there, but can't seem to fix them* Bob
I like the idea of your composition. You exposure is terrific. In my opinion, Judy's crop helps, but doesn't simplfy it enough. I think you have an image within an image here. If it were possible to rearrange the stones into a more dramatic shape I think there would be more impact. |

No, I didn't see any evidence that any of the displys were caught in the fire. The Great Fire of 1910 (also commonly referred to as the Big Blowup, the Big Burn, or the Devil's Broom fire) was a wildfire that burned about 2-3 million acres, (approximately the size of Connecticut) in northeast Washington, northern Idaho (the panhandle), and western Montana. It caused a major change in the way the USFS managed national forests that still exist now.
