40 Mar 19 Reply Thank you Andrew... Henry had the same suggestion, I have so many versions of this image its always hard to decide which one to post. I do have a few that are less cropped and show more motion leading into the cut back. Likewise with all my action shots I always tend to crop super tight to zoom in and actually capture the facial expressions, but I will take you're suggestion on some mod my up coming images for sure. Thank You 👠Mar 21st

Super cool editorial style image, nice composition and framing of the image. Cool balance of color and shapes. Nicely done ðŸ‘

40 Mar 19 Comment Alison,

The color and tone of this image is really pretty. For me personally I think the people in the bottom of the image distract from the balloons and the sky. I would maybe use the gradient tool in Lightroom and drag up from the bottom and just under expose the bottom sliver of the image to bring the eye directly up to the main balloon and the sky ðŸ˜

40 Mar 19 Comment Hi Jamie,

Using tools out in the field like this is always challenging. I like the depth of field you shot with on the orchid. I have a suggestion for the reflector and background use you might be able to try next time. If you use a plain grey or 50% grey backdrop, even a grey card you can then add color and texture very easily in Photoshop right over the grey to make the background look however you want. Drop another swatch of color and or texture over the grey then use the blend mode of overlay or soft light and play with opacity, then mask the image and paint out the orchid (subject) and leave the background un touched with the overlay layer blended on top fo the original.

40 Mar 19 Comment Hello Jamie and Alison, thank you for the feedback ðŸ˜

Good luck in Hawaii Jamie, I'm sure you'll capture some great images there ðŸ‘

Alison, actually I was not on a tripod, this is hand help single frame shot, I just times the capture point well. I grew up surfing and I know this surfer really well so I know when he its about to make his moves. Regarding the water, I did not use a polarizer on this shot, the color in the water this morning was super nice so I just brought it out in post a little more. Although the look on Rat's face is not a portrait type smile, the effort he is putting out is conveyed by his expression. ðŸ‘
