The shorter person is wearing the One Run t shirt designed for the One Run fund raiser. The slogan One Run symbolizes together we are running One Run. The other person is wearing a Canada t shirt. I assume he was allowed to wear this t shirt while everyone else wore the One Run t shirt because he had a special status as a Canadian runner.
He was a power house to watch. I saw him in the distance as he emerged from the Fanshawe campus and took this picture. I did not realize that he was taking over for Therese when her knee gave out after 60 kms of running. He also is a symbol. Therese organized fund raisers at London Ontario high schools. She told the students "One day I will not be here to run. Remember me. We are One Run. You will take over and run." This man took over....demonstrating we are One Run, running the race of our life.
In 2020 the prediction was that one out of three people will have cancer. This number is probably closer to 1 out of 2 people now. We do not know when we also will be running the race of our life.

I think it is the file size and resolution. I had an image of a young girl holding an umbrella over head waving the runners on. However, the story was weak in comparison to this image. |

I like the simplicity of the image, the use of shadow to contrast with the snow and convey light, and the strong diagonal composition which conveys motion and in this image moving down a slope. My eye continues to move outside the image.
You might consider flipping this image to strengthen the diagonal composition using the rule of right. In western culture we are use to reading from left to right therefore, putting the people on the left our eye moves from the left to the right and we imagine people moving out of the frame.

During the time of covid with our shut downs etc, I wanted to use this image to show that we also have to be Runners of Hope and pull together until covid is over.

I have learned three different filters to create rain. What a creative group!
I like the simplicity and minimlism of the image, the composition, the complementary color pallete, the variety of shapes, and lines. The bright yellow point contrasts with the blue and draws my eye into the image.
With the minimalism and simplicity in the image and given the line points to camera left, you might also consider a portrait crop as another option. Well done. |

What an interesting and creative idea. My first thoughts were the butterfly is a survivor. The image is dramatic, well composed, with good mood and story, and the color pallette complements the story.
Where did you find the rain filter.

For this month, I suggested snow because I learned the editing challenges of creating texture and detail into a snow image and also I also was curious whether any members would create a monochrome image.
I like the simplicity in your image, the composition filling the frame and the branch serving as a leading line. Also, I see you have created texture in the negative subject/background. If you wished to have more detail in the background snow, you could move the texture and dehaze slider to the right and then adjust the highlights and exposure to avoid blown out highlights.
I have attached an image of mine where I chose to bring more texture into the background because of the subject. I think it is a matter of taste, balance and intent. In the image attached, I wanted the snow to stand out where your image with light snow has an ethereal mood.

I have never heard of the fractulius filter so will research what it does.
I like the mood, color pallette, lighting and variety of shapes and textures in this image. The lighting moves my eye from camera right to camera left and the deep pink is a strong focal point holding my attenton.
In my feeback attached, I have suggested a tighter crop for you to consisder which puts the flower on the vertical one third line. |

What snowbanks. No wonder people think of Canada as the land of snow.
I feel you have captured a strong snow image and portrayed the mood of a cold miserable day. I noted that with your angle, the pole is crooked. I think your composition could be strengthened by removing the tree on the left and you could bring more detail into the snow. Why do they put mailboxes on corners to block views?
I have provided some editing suggestions for you to consider.
1. Cropped off the tree on the left and cropped down from the top so the building does not look crooked. A more complex edit would be to use the transform warp tool in PS but I am not sure if you have this in elements.
2. Straightened the image using the transform vertical in LR.
3.Increased the texture in the snow moving dehaze and texture to the right.

When suggesting the topic of rain or snow, I did not know what seasons members would be experiencing.
I find this image captures the joy of children and adults experiencing winter. The subject stands out clearly against the background and the pop of red in the hat, and tobaggan are interest points that tell the story of outdoor winter fun.
In my Visual Feedback I have provided two thoughts for you to consider making the edits in LR.
1. Increased the texture in the snow by pulling the dehaze and texture slider to the left and then adjusted the exposure and highlights to compensate;
2. Cropped some off the left so that the vertical rule of third line passes through the eye of the boy;
3. With a brush, painted more exposure on the lady's face to have the tones more consistent with the boy's
