I both agree and disagree with what you were taught in your film making courses. I think it depends on the length and content of the video. If you are talking about a long full length documentary film then hard cuts would be be preferable. But, in a short video, like ours, I feel that a simple short fade to black is preferable to a hard cut. In a short video it just makes it to choppy if you don't use transitions. I'm not a big fan of all the fancy transitions. Just a simple fade in and fade out is the best.

Harry,
WOW !! What an absolutely beautiful video.
Oh I guess if you wanted to you could find a few technical things that could have been changed, but for me this was prefect, I wouldn't change a thing.
I have watched your video many times and I am amazed at everything about it.
The drone shots of the trains had to be timed perfactly. So very, very nice.
I just can't say enough about how well you did this. All of it, the Still shots, the video clips and the editing.
Excellent !!

Peter,
For me, your video was good and it was bad.
I loved the subject matter of the video but, it was way to rushed for me. The transitions were way too short or not there at all. My brain couldn't focus on what I was seeing before you were on to the next image.
As for the text, I agree with Bunny completely. At first I found that I couldn't read the text fast enough, so I didn't even try. I had to watch the video several times and pause it so that I could read the sub-titles.
I really liked how you changed the music to fix the different scenes of the video. Very well done.
I'm not quite sure how to rate this one. I liked it but, I didn't like it.

Helen,
What a beautiful video. The south coast of Australia is absolutely amazing. Your still images are so beautiful. The video clips of the shore line and the waves is outstanding. As Bunny said, it makes you want to pack your bags and head to the south shore of Australia.
I like the music and you did a very nice job with the transitions.
I agree with Peter and Bunny, you need a fade out at the end of the video. It just ended too abruptly. The beginning of the video worked but I think 2 or 3 seconds of black and then a fade in to the video would have worked better.
With such a beautiful video and such a wonderful subject, I wished it could have been longer. Two minutes just seemed to short for such and amazing video.
One thing to keep in mind, when you are using Text in your video, be sure to check the spelling of your text before you finalize your video.
At :30 you showed a rock and the text said "Horsr Head Rock" rather than Horse Head Rock, and at 1:17 your title said "Seels" instead of Seals. I realize that English isn't your first language, so just keep that in mind when using English sub-titles.
An absolutely outstanding video !! Well Done !!

Bunny,
I really enjoyed the subject of your video. The ice hotel was a very fun thing to capture. There were over 50 still images and over 50 video clips used.
As I watched I felt that you should have used more transitions between the images and between the video clips. Without transitions it just looked choppy. In some of the video it worked, where you quickly changed the images to match the music but, I felt, much of it needed more transitions.
I watched you video at least 6 times and at first I didn't like the music that you used. After seeing it a few times the music began to grow on me. By the 6th time I rather enjoyed it. For myself, in most cases, I prefer to use an instrumental rather than a vocal. I guess that is a personal preference and is dependent on the subject matter of the video.
Over all, I would say very well done. I am looking forward to seeing your next video.
