85 Mar 21 Reply I love this shot. I played with the levels in PS and got this. ..

So is this Cemetery close to hour home? It would be cool to take the four seasons shot of this from the same position and height.

85 Mar 21 Reply Hello Lou,

This is a very nice image that would have been a good one to use on PSA for critique.

Wow, that's depressing to loose your drone in the river. The Mavic Pro is close to $1000, that's a lot to loose in the a fatal dunk. How did it happen, did your battery die or were you to low and hit a tree or what. I think talking about our experiences is a good way for everyone to learn. Your PSA page is primarily to share your aerial photography, but it could be used for so much more.

Cheers

Dick

Hello everyone,

I want to introduce myself, I'm Dick Burr the Admin. Of DD Group 84 (video). I have been interested in your group since its inception a few years ago. My group is video and I do a lot of aerial videography, which led me to the interest in your group. I have an older drone a DJI Phantom 3 Pro. Which I enjoy flying a lot. I've been wanting to leave feedback on your images for a while, and I figured that now is a good time. I am going to put this introduction on everyone in your groups image page and then leave my critique, hope you don't mind.

Don,

An interesting shot, beautiful sky. Are you using a polarizing filter for this shot, because the sky looks so deeply beautiful. What was your intention with this shot? Looking at it one can see the endless number of houses that go back as far as the eye can see, but from the angle that you shot this image, it is hard to see much detail of the layout of the houses. My suggestion would have been to go higher and get more of a shot of the houses and less of the sky. At least half of the image is sky and the real interest of the image is all the houses and how close they are together. I wouldn't want to eliminate the sky all together because it is so beautiful, but my feeling is there is just to much of it.

You can tell by the clouds that it is beginning to get dark and the houses seem a little blurred and not as crisp as they could have been. Do you use Photo Shop to edit? Look at my example, I went to Image - Adjustments - Levels and changed the input levels to get my result. Also I cropped out some of the sky.

Do you know what F-stop you were shooting at?

Lou,

This is a very cool shot (pun intended). I like doing these kinds of shots myself and I very often use video captures to get still images.

Was it a hazy day? The shot looks like the contrast is off, but it may be because your lens was fogged or that it was just a hazy day.

I have experienced my lens fogging up at times. I find that if you take the drone out of your warm car into the cold air outdoors, you will get a foggy lens. Let the drone set outside for a little while for the lens to clear before you fly.

Have you noticed that your battery doesn't last as long when the temp. is that low.

With your Mavic Pro, is there an aperture adjustment on your RC. On my Phantom I have a dial that I can use to adjust the F-stop.

Lisa,

I like this shot a lot but quite honestly it looks like a shot you could have gotten with a DSLR. For a drone shot of a roller coaster, I think a higher aerial shot would have been more interesting.

Did you take many shot of this roller coaster? With that subject there could be so many interesting views and shots to take. A video of this roller coaster would have really been nice to see.

While you were flying, did you have a good view of your drone all the time. From a parking garage, I would think that it may have been easy to actually have flown into the center of the roller coaster. Boy that seems like a fun fly with a lot of possibilities

Your original image looks a little dark, were you using a filter?

Bob,

A nice image of Thorp Splawn Cemetery. I like how the overhead view shows the long shadows of tomb stones and fencing. I think if I was taking this shot I would have gone lower and in front of the Cemetery plot, still getting the aerial effect of the shadows, but being able to see the tomb stones better.

I saw the distant image from the last round of this Cemetery and I must say this is much better. Did you try taking any other views of this Cemetery?

The image looks a little blurry, did you crop it a lot? Any idea what your height was for this shot? Possably if you adjusted the contrast is PS it may help.

Again, a interesting shot

Dick Burr
