83 Oct 19 Reply Hi Judy, the bean is very easy to make, you select a region, then change the exposure, light the area up, use the feather to make adjustment to the edges. That's it. Have fun. :) Oct 29th
83 Oct 19 Reply Thanks Jose. :) It is hard to present the beautiful blue bells in b/w. But as the origin color image has three main colors, blue, green and brown, I feel they are too much and b/w might give better separation. :) Oct 29th
83 Oct 19 Comment Hi Jose, amazing beautiful portrait! So perfect! I could not find any weakness to critique. Thanks for the sharing. The lighting explanation is interesting. I wish I know more about it. I know you tried to make the face looks soft, is that why you are using very light reverse triangle? Oct 28th
83 Oct 19 Comment Lance, beautiful! beautiful! Never try to take shots in heavy rain near water, your effect is really stunning. Love it!! The fog and the rain with the forest fine plants at the background brought in such a tranquil feeling! I agree with Jerry that tone down the right hand side to make the image less contrast might keep the dreamy effect even better. For some reason, I saw a warm tone on both you Jose's images. I feel I might prefer a little bit cold tone. I made some minor adjustment and tone down the highlight. Oct 28th
83 Oct 19 Comment Hi Georgianne,

This is indeed a very interesting object to photograph. Good eyes! I like the mono sepia that you picked for the conversion. It created an aging feeling. However, comparing with the origin color one, I agree with all our peers comments, the color one is much better. The mono one I think the image has many places over exposure which lead to out off details

83 Oct 19 Reply Judy, TK is another player with luminosity masking. I like both. I used to use Lumenzia before, now switched to TK as mainly I lost my plug-in. :) TK comes handy with the PS. I still find some limitation from both though. Oct 23rd
83 Oct 19 Reply Thanks Lance. Agree that there is too much freedom for the digital processing. One of the clubs that I used to join many years ago won't allow any adjustment of the elements to the image except just some fine tuning or cropping if one submits to the nature category. I think that is the rule of thumb. But as creative editing, the window is open. The reason that I added the fog here is that I like the moody foggy Spring morning with blossom bluebells. :) Oct 23rd
83 Oct 19 Comment Emma, very nice capture of the beautiful reflection. I agree with Judy, a tight crop will make the reflection more attractive as that is what you want audience to see. I did a very similar cropping as Judy did, except that I use curve to fine tune a few parts: darker the bottom wood frame, increase the contrast for the reflection, etc. Oct 23rd
83 Oct 19 Comment Or if you still like to keep the whole window, I made another adjustment to bring in some light beans to make the frame more fun. Oct 23rd
83 Oct 19 Comment Judy, very nice simple composition and good catch of the light and shadow. You have good observation. Such a plain place becomes such a classical nice image. From the angle that you made this shot, I guess you have more interest in the light from the window than the texture of the window itself. I would like to suggest to re-frame the picture as I think the bottom part of the image is more interesting with the light and shadow. Oct 23rd
83 Oct 19 Reply Thanks Judy. I think you got my thoughts. :) I like what you did to the sky. The result is even better than what I had tried with the fog to cover the brightness. Very nice! I need to try that with TK. I noticed that you lighted up the tree trunk also, I like that too. I'll try that when I get some free time this weekend. Thanks! Oct 11th
83 Oct 19 Reply Hi Lance, thanks for the comments. I started to look into Wynn Bullock's arts. :) I like his quotes too. It's amazing how he could transfer some simple landscape/seascape pictures into beautiful b/w images. Really appreciate that you share your knowledge with us. Sorry for the confusion. The original image isn't the original, it's just another attempt I made to diffuse the bright sky. :) I have to admit that this foggy one is a creative editing. I would like to get some input about these two images too, with and w/o fog. Oct 11th
83 Oct 19 Comment Lance, I uploaded your original. Hope it'll help. :) Oct 10th
83 Oct 19 Comment Dirk, very nice composition and perfect for the closeup to bring up the mood of the image. I love the details that you presented with the shallow DOF as Lance mentioned. The only thing that bothers me is the fuzzy white light on the right up background. I think if you could burn down a little bit it'll help the audience focus better. Oct 9th
83 Oct 19 Comment Thanks Dirk. I made some modification to the image last night and see if that'll help to minimize the distraction from the sky. Oct 9th
