Paul - this is a good moody image of a historical landscape. Your letterbox view works. The sky really helps and I'm guessing your PP has emphases that. Yes the rolling stock helps to have somewhere for our eye to rest on at the end of the rails. Nice! |

Mary - this is lovely! I prefer this mono version (both because of the tighter crop and because your PP brings out the wildness of the horse. Your narrow border helps too.
Two suggestions:
- the brightest part of the image seems to be his back - I would back this area off locally as it take the eye there too readily.
- could you lighten shadows in the small area of his eye, to allow us to see it more clearly?
Love the area round his mouth and the wildness of his main. Good image. |

David - this is simply stunning! It's fabulous in mono! I do wonder whether you tried different exposure times, but 5 seconds seems perfect.
As a side note, that lens is fabulously sharp - I love it! |

Well done Vincent having a good photographer's eye to see this in the first place!
This is a minimalist image, developed to further that feel and I can understand that. By so doing you have removed the snow texture and I'm guessing that was your intention. But I think the branches need to be darker for them to have the right feel.
I suggest you crop out the left twig as this is leaning in the wrong direction - see here. I've also rotated it slightly anticlockwise. I really like how you took this so that the top of the smaller twig lines up with the main shadow. |

Thank you Isaac - interesting! I hope to be in Falklands in Feb if weather is kind, and if so, I'll be photographing kings there. |

Lovely shot Isaac! They are very clear and your reflections add interest to the image. Your group of 3 birds works very well.
The beaks seem to be slightly different colours. Do you know if this is just lighting, age differences or just how they are!? |

Maria, you PP is perfect to my eye! Great skill!
You captured your bee so sharply, this has allowed you to achieve great detail from a large crop - the result is a lovely image. Can't fault it, or offer any suggestion for improvement. Lovely colours. |

Richard - I too haven't seen a chick before - certainly knowingly! Your emphasis through focus on it with its mother behind, makes for an endearing image - well done.
Just a suggestion - try a square crop with the birds on left to make a smaller image with the chick relatively larger - may work. |

This is amazing Karen! Fabulously sharp after a huge crop! Your PP is very well done. Love it!
I do wonder whether you could rotate it clockwise 90% - I think the impact may be even greater, without the stem position being odd. Just a thought. |

This is lovely Maria! You did incredibly well to get both the vegetation and the two butterflies maturely on the same plane so that they're all in focus with your 6.3 setting. Makes a great picture and I like having the whole grass above the butterflies there. Lovely background. Well done. |

Hi Bruce
Great siting! As you know, I cruise quite a bit, but not in the areas yet that tend to gave large Orca pods like this - just seeing a family or so. The large rear fin of the male is so very distinctive!
As to your image - having a large group such as this, some are bound to be part animals - but a group is part of the storey, as is the proximity of the land. You could crop out the half one on the right possibly. Nice picture and nice to have a good image as a memory of the event. |

This is lovely Cindy! The lighting is great and there is so much detail in the stump and birds to enjoy - it's a real pleasure to move around the image. Perfect. |

So you were disturbed enjoying your donut Steve! But it was worth it! The lighting here works so well and I like the sense of movement your 1/500 sec shot achieved. Beautifully presented image. |

Sunat, you've captured this flying egret with its catch perfectly - well done. It is not unusual for there to be some blown out spots on a white bird, so local work can deal with that.
I'm not sure why you presented this so much darker than the original. Also, a close to centre position for a flying bird rarely feels right in an image, so Bruce's crop works. |

Bruce - a very striking image! I too love the limited colour range and the bird is captured so very well - not easy for a rare white bird. Great shot and amazing that its from 2004! |

Very creative Jerry! You were right to concentrate on the net and reposition your birds - better balance. When I looked first at the image, before reading your text - I thought there was going to be some story about the birds avoiding being trapped in the net or something! I do find the top right one strange - it probably is just landing, but I would drop him a bit. |

Thanks Bruce and I was wrestling with that choice and concluded wrongly! I agree that closing the left side off with the tree helps. Thank you for showing this. |
