Great shot Larry. I like the front view of this action. Amazing you've posted this the same month as Isaac's in 72! |

Thanks for more info re your shot. I'll take your word re football - I'm one of those who despite having worked in Manchester many moons ago, I have never followed football! |

Great reactions Isaac! Fabulous action shot and yes, the yellow foot adds to the story. Nice detail on the alligator and the water colour helps. |

It is the lovely light that makes this image for me Maria. Well caught and developed, including the crop. My eye goes straight to the eye, beak and lovely feather detail on its neck. Lovely image. |

Hi Richard. The interacting pair creates a nice story and you captured this action well - but the bird back left stops them having a clean background.
As stated above , it is generally best to include the minimum area around your main sub just to support/enhance the story you are telling. So some rocks are helpful, but not much. |

Bruce. This is a great action shot. The combination of the eyes staring down the crow and the turning/running action is great. Well done. |

Cindy, a lovely portrait of an interesting bird. I agree that a square crop works well with this type of simple clean image. I think I would be inclined to position the bird slightly to the left of the square, but that's nitpicking! |

Nice image Steve! The stare and concentration is compelling. I like the fact that all of the white plumage and head is covered by the darker wing - that really helps.
The decision of how much of the surrounding environment to include is always a personal preference. In this case, the snowy area and vegetation emerging from the snow adds to the story. Lovely. |

Sunat - well taken. It's an interesting fine bird. I agree with Bruce - lightening the shadows of just the bird.
I find it interesting that you took the photograph with the bird left of centre - but your final image has the bird materially central. My belief is that there should virtually always be more 'negative space' in front than behind. I would thus crop 1/2 of the left away and some of the top. I think this will result in the bird looking better balanced. Up to you though. |

Jerry, this is a lovely portrait of an interesting bird. I've seen quite a few, but never as cleanly as this, including the feet. Your swap and branch removal enhances the end result, which shows lovely detail. Good PP. |

Thanks Jerry - I like that, but that's too cleaver for me (don't use Photoshop). |

Nice Bruce and I agree with cropping from the right - I like birds to have more in front than behind. |

Many thanks Bruce. I rather like the heron looking out forlornly out into space with the rain belting down - it's not a close up of the bird. |
