Isaac, I haven't seen one of these either - a month full of 'firsts'. It's very well taken and presented. Interesting thought from Chris re polariser. Thank you for giving us something different. |

Leah, you have done the best out of the image as taken - well done. A specimen photo of a flower obviously needs a clean background, limiting your choice of subject. You could try to replace the background if you are able to do this (I wouldn't!) and if you use Lightroom, they have launched a Ai remove facility in the last week. Good luck! |

Hello Barbara, another different animal for us to look at and admire. I love your timing in taking this making us smile. Full of character. I like the crop as your main image, but tighter ones also work. |

Hello Chris and welcome here.
You have been very creative and like what you have done with your processing very much. But the proportion of the red bird is larger than the blue and this isn't working. So I suggest you crop from left and perhaps a tad from the bottom so you leave part of the front red bird only. If you leave the eye area, I suggest you blur more so it distracts less.
I like the greater colour variation and detail of the blue bird. |

Hi Maria, you have chosen a different and unusual species to show us - thank you. Your original had a huge variation from the bright to shadows, so post adjustment was inevitable. Isaac's work on the shadows has made a big difference - you have captured good detail of the animal. I assume these are nocturnal, so seeing and capturing them flying is near impossible.

Lovely image Bruce, particularly with you taking this at his level - well done. 'He' stands out well vs background but it may just be worth toning the greens down a tad as suggested. |

Many thanks Marge. I have since straightened it up and played with the green water colour, but I do like the mum being on the left of the image looking right. |

Cindy, these hummingbirds are one of the smallest type and your photo sort of shows that relative to the colourful flower stem. It's very brave of you to go to 1/250'th and would think that any slower would lead to the body being blurred. This chap must have been relatively still as it prepared to go in for the nectar.
I like your crop of the flower with you choosing not to cut through a red area and this governs most of the image area. Lovely image. I'm sure you have many more from that session. |

Lovely shot Marge, Florida keeps on providing amazing bird images! Is there a reason why you included a small amount of the post? |

Steve, this is a lovely environmental image and I too love it Sutton the left side, looking right. A partial refection is a bonus. |

I like your crop - it is always a personal taste, but I feel the bird feels comfortable within its frame as you have it. I would see if adding a little saturation to either the whole image or just the bird and some Clarity may add a bit of punch (as well as tingling out more colour in the feathers). If you try this, a bit of shadow lightning may be needed. |

Bruce - a fabulous shot with much going on! I am in 2 minds whether the wide view of portrait is best - both have merits with eye wider view having more surrounding interest. Great capture |

Jerry, I would not have guessed this was a composite and after reading your notes, I looked without seeing anything obvious to me. Well done. I don't find the nested bird on the edge wrong or distracting. It's looking well towards the incoming bird and your story is well composed. |

Thank you Jerry. It always surprises me quite how much a bird can move in 1/10 sec! So no, this was by far the best view of the mother within the circle of water droplets. |
