Hello Leah - they are extraordinary birds aren't they! Convenient there were two close to each other. I don't mind the close crop given this is a portrait shot. You could consider lightening the shadows somewhat of the birds themselves to bring out more detail, particularly in their red neck and faces. |

Isaac, this is an 'in character' shot of a hyena going off to find a quiet safe place to enjoy its prize. Very sharp with appropriate background. Tells a story well. Can't fault it. Well done. |

Barbara, this is lovely close up. Very sharp with a perfect background. My only suggestion is that my preference for animals looking (say) left, is to be positioned more to the right of centre, so it's looking into the frame. I would thus keep your square format and crop the right and top area a bit. Lovely image. |

Maria, your crop has resulted in a very sharp view of the grasshopper in a location I wouldn't expect. There is good detail seen. You could have cropped very closely, but I rather like seeing the width of where it has chosen to sit. |

Bruce - these are lovely animals and not often photographed. This is a very nice image showing the attentive character of the two.
We didn't see them within the Grand Tetons when we were there for a few days in the Fall (a number of years ago). |

Indeed Steve - modern hardware and software helps amateurs like me to achieve better results more often. |

Cindy, you caught this interesting bird in an interesting way, making a lovely image with the special light. Well done. Bruce's additive helps and as you say, is fine within Nature Exhibition. You are in my view, exactly right to differentiate between Nature (where the end-product has to believably as you saw it), and Open (where Jerry's view is right for). |

Marge - this is a lovely 'simple' image - really effective with its clear background. I prefer Cindy's crop after straightening it. Well timed shot. |

Steve, I like your portrait crop of your hugely sharp bird. Jerry's comment re the shape of the stem and bird is good.
As I mentioned to Bruce, I saw an Eastern Bluebird in January when in Bahamas for a day which looked identical to yours. Perhaps all Bluebirds are the same.
Lovely picture. |

I saw an Eastern Bluebird in Bermuda which seems identical to this. |

You have done very well to get this very nice bird to stand out from a cluttered background Jerry. It looks so much better and your bird is very sharp with a v pleasant expression.
I do suggest you blacken/replace a few more areas immediately left of its face where they remain grey rather than perfectly black - plus the same to its right (some areas ask "what's that?", so detract). |

Thanks Jerry. Not noise. Later images had splash, yes - but they covered too much bird. |
