Good capture Isaac. It isn't often one sees zebras showing their teeth, so this is well timed, sharp and interesting. |

Maria, you've captured great detail in its fur here and I like the sympathetic background with the nut. The amount of wood shown is personal choice, but Isaac's crop certainly leaves a cleaner image. |

Hi Bruce - yes a very unusual pose for a portrait and different is 'good'. As one who is not familiar with the bird, I would still have preferred to see a tad more of its head, which I assume is the same colour. |

I've just researched for the type of dolphin this is - Bottlenose dolphin. The Bay of Islands also has Common dolphins- not those. |

Cindy, I agree with Jerry that having the lead bird's head up works well and I also find the yellow water just too bright to be comfortable viewing. It's sharp and well taken. |

Marge - lovely image I like the branch coming from the bottom left corner - the amount of cropping is a personal thing. I think I would have cropped from left and bottom a fraction to remove the lower bit, but still having the main branch emerging from the corner. I've been told to lighten eyes a few times in the past and I conclude that it makes sense up to a degree which is believable and enhances the whole image, and not ending up distracting from the rest of the bird. As such, a slight lighting of shadows of the eye and face/beak may be worth trying.
Lovely image. |

Steve - just Wow! Great capture! You did very well with the snow. In truth, I think you needed a faster setting than 1/1,000 to freeze the bodies of both birds, but Topaz has done a good job. Great image Steve! |

Sunat, I agree with Jerry that the image has ended up over-saturated. It doesn't pass a Does it look real? test in my view. I do wander whether you developed the image as a whole in the same way. The bird needs developing by itself, possibly ending up just a little less richly (less Clarity?), then all the rest of the image left largely as you've captured it (bit of clarity but not overdone so the bird pops and the grass does not say to the viewer 'look at me'. )
Your crop looks sensible to me - I might have taken a tad off the top. |

What a lovely bird Bruce! Well positioned in the frame, looking to our left works. Sympathetic background helps to enhance the lovely portrait. |

Jerry, you have presented a very clean view of your heron flying with its beak slightly open. You have lightened the shadow area of its lower body, creating a hdr effect which may not be to everyone's taste. I find it too central and would prefer more space on the left to fly into. You have left grey marks below the bird which were branches. |

Thanks Isaac. I've seen puffins in Iceland but haven't been successful either - best have been on east coast of Scotland or Yorkshire. |
