Bruce, you are just so lucky to have such lovely birds in your 'garden', as we call them! I think this chap is very small - a wee ball of fur, and fast! Tack sharp! |

Maria - this is made by your bee being just so sharp and clear, with the perfect of backgrounds. Good depth of field. Great image. |

This is a well taken image - rewarding you being prepared for anything. It really helps your zebra being surrounded in a tight pack and the light worked for you. I think the viewer can interpret what's happening - I took it that it was complaining of being crushed!
Visiting Masai Mara at migration time remains one of favourite wildlife experiences and saw many zebras. |

Thanks Maria - I like your close up idea. Here is a quickly generated version of this for interest. |

Nice image Cindy. You seem to have taken this when low to the ground, which makes a difference. Good timing with the worm still in the ground stretched fully straight. The colours compliment each other well. Good feather detail. |

Hi Marge. Nice image. The lighting draws my eye nicely to your bird's head/beak perfectly. You may consider lighting the shadows of the main body area to show off the interesting feather patters more, but not a deal breaker. Well positioned in the frame. Thank you for sharing. |

Steve - this really works! The out of focus 2nd bird makes this - in fact, a snap of the main bird's back/side view wouldn't have made an interesting picture. I actually like the colours and light of your image, the yellow grasses are there but don't detract from your main bird and my eye goes to its fine detail. Its orange stands out well, repeated on the top bird. Lovely picture. |

Yes, Sunat the X shape makes this image interesting and you have done a good job in exposure of white feathers perfectly. I like that the far bird's eye and beak are clear and sharp - good depth of field. |

I'm glad your equipment survived being blown over! This is a very interesting portrait of a colourful egret. Great background. Very sharp. |

Jerry - well seen (in a very interesting location: I've been lucky enough to visit Cordoba many times, mostly for work). I like what you have done in developing this, but wonder whether your image would be stronger with the one bird that is cleanly visible being more central. |

Many thanks Cindy - Yes, Costa Rica is special: it is somewhat nearer for you than us from UK!
I attach a revised crop having rotated it as well as cropping out the top left branch, which allows me to keep a little more space above the crest. |
