Isaac, this proves very well how both interesting experiences and images can be obtained from zoos. You have caught good action here with one looking directly at you - very nice. I do wonder whether the face of this chap could benefit from additional localised texture: it does not seem tack-sharp. But this might just be the small file size we use here. Its eyes could benefit from a little lightening.
Thank you for sharing this, with your narrative. We visit Singapore on a long cruise and have 2 days there, so we will research visiting that zoo. We have been before, but that was in 2007, before Formula 1 changed much. |

Hi Barbara: gosh this must have been an experience with you being so close! Your pp work look great to me, with good detail in them all and I very much like how we can see all their heads well. |

Nice peaceful and calm view Mary. This proves that what I normally call boring evergreen trees can be in a pleasing situation. The limited colour palette works well. |

Maria, this is an interesting thing to try - to show a bee's environment. I think that for this to work, the main daisy needs to be the main focus, with the other flowers all being softer, quite out of focus and not nearly as bright. Isaac's crop removes one dandelion, but with his crop my eye still goes to the other dandelion rather than the bee and it's daisy. |

This is a fabulous image Bruce! I am struck by the contrasts on his head, with the lighter areas by his eyes. Your PP and crop really works. |

Thanks Bruce. We are travelling 100+ days a year while we can medically and/or before insurance costs get ridiculous. |

Well done Marge, a great capture. The osprey and catch does need lightening as demonstrated by Isaac which I'm sure you can do. |

Steve, this is certainly a pretty image helped by the interesting link foliage. You did well getting a sharp image at 1/30th and despite this ISO had to be high due to low light. An alternative to darkening the background and pink foliage is to soften it through negative clarity in Lightroom - which is so easy now with the new tools. That may get your bird to stand out more but keep the pale pink of the foliage. |

Well captured Sunat! I assume the Ibis was successful in the capture of this snake, which makes the image. As Bruce said, you have left much of the landscape around the pair visible: it do wonder whether a tighter crop would allow the viewer to enjoy more detail of the action here and the landscape is not that interesting in this instance. I would be inclined to crop from the top to the top of the dark green grasses and the sides. Your f11 settings leaves much of the background in focus which in this instance isn't adding anything. You clearly have the skill to expose successfully in manual mode, but this is one occasion that speed priority would have delivered a narrower depth of field and lower ISO.
Great image though with interest. |

Yes a lovely portrait of an interesting bird, well captured and presented. You are right that the S shape works and your tight crop just gives us what we need. I think I saw these lovely birds in Costa Rica on the Caribbean side, but not as perfectly as here. |

Bruce, this is certainly a wow picture and proves that we don't need to travel to see stunning wildlife! I love your timing, with it looking at you as you took this shot. Fabulous!! |
