72 Jul 23 Comment A striking shot Issac which I suspect was grabbed as you saw the opportunity. The image is all about the teeth, but I think Marie is right that a tad more work on the area from just in front of its eyes backwards to darken and add sharpness would help. It's just the eyes which don't seem tack sharp. A bit of dehaze in that area may help. Jul 15th
72 Jul 23 Comment A lovely image Marie! I am surprised all are in focus with a 5.6 setting but you achieved it. I'm impressed with your pp changes - really helps. Jul 15th
72 Jul 23 Comment Barbara, you have created an image with impact with a particular focus on its eye. As such, it is a pleasing image, but as others have said, it does not represent a true portrait of the bird. Jul 15th
72 Jul 23 Comment I love seeing your underwater images, they are always special and this is certainly that. Great composition with things of interest coming from the bottom left corner and such colour everywhere. Just seen the little blue fish - I love pictures that keep surprising! Jul 15th
72 Jul 23 Comment Gosh, how lucky you are being able to capture great images of , to me within the UK, such a special insect and this is simply perfect! Your composition is ideal and all its details show up very clearly against a diffused clear background. Thank you for treating us with this. Jul 15th
72 Jul 23 Comment Bruce - simply Wow! So much detail to enjoy. Thank you for posting this from deep in your archives. Jul 13th

91 Jul 23 Comment Gosh Cindy, this is a great image of a lovely bird with the added interest of the fish. Well done. Jul 15th

91 Jul 23 Reply Thanks Jerry! Jul 13th
91 Jul 23 Comment Marge, you had a great position for this shot and a helpful sky sky which is non-distracting. You have good feather detail and it's an impressive portrait Marge. Jul 13th
91 Jul 23 Comment Hello Sanat - you captured these two very well and I'm not sure if I can add to what has been said before. Once question I can't see a reply to whether you shot this in burst mode, and thus may have a version with the second bird's eye not covered with its eyelid.

My only other point is that I would crop from the top, taking out about 1/2 the far background. The background is a little too clear (as has been mentioned) and this could be improved with selective negative texture and clarity.

It's a nice well taken image.

91 Jul 23 Comment Hi Bruce - we 'meet' again. Gosh what a lovely bird and I very much like the feather positions, makes for an interesting image. As has been mentioned, a portrait aspect is likely to emphasis it looking down at the stump, linking the two more. The angle of its head may suite the bird being positioned slightly to the right. Lovely image Bruce. Jul 13th
91 Jul 23 Comment A lovely striking portrait Jerry. I love the detail in the white feathers and your work on its eye certainly made a big difference. Jul 13th
91 Jul 23 Reply Hello Marge, nice to 'meet' you. No I don't shoot in JPEG - in RAW. I can't answer your 2nd question. I sized each image 1,024 pixels wide 768 high being what I believe the system is - I hope someone will tell me if I'm wrong! Jul 13th
91 Jul 23 Reply Thanks Bruce - will look this place up Jul 6th
91 Jul 23 Reply Thanks Sanat. I felt very lucky to have this Osprey fly over/close to me at a time I had my camera all set up for flying birds. I could thus react instantly when someone near me shouted 'Osprey'! Jul 4th
91 Jul 23 Reply Thanks Jerry.
Lens is their Olympus long lens as per narrative above

Yes, I'm a Reality photographer only - creating images as best I can based on what I see. So I never change anything - nature or travel, even if submitted to an Open competition/Exhibition.

91 Jul 23 Reply Cindy - for interest, here is a different view taken a few seconds later. Its a tad tight to the top edge, but I was happy to get this view as well. Jul 3rd
