Agreed Isaac, but I just find it strange looking when there is greater contrast between bright animals against a darker landscape. It makes me ask, why are the animals so bright? |

A very striking image Isaac! The orange butterfly with the same colour of legs on the orange flower makes for an excellent image for your Colour entries. I like the way the viewer is looking at the butterfly from below and your flip helps that feeling. You have positioned the stem from the bottom left corner - perfect.
I don't find the lack of room above the butterfly an issue, because of the view coming from below. Great image! |

I am going to agree with the others ahead of me Maria - the crop has taken away the fuller information about the scene and I don't enjoy the treatment. Your image as taken is easier to understand without having been there and appreciate the work of nature. I also enjoy seeing the significant crack to the right which adds to the force of nature story. |

Barbara - the position the calf has to get itself in to feed creates an eye-catching scene and the perfect triangle with the mother's face clear enough from her calf. You thus positioned yourself perfectly to capture this scene and your crop hasn't affected the quality.
I'm not sure about darkening the grass - I can understand the benefit, but the animals appear unrealistically bright to me without a shadow visible on the dark grass. |

Mary - you have shown us a very unusual image of clouds rolling over the landscape - which of course could be anywhere: it is the clouds in beautiful morning/evening light that is the subject. I love it for those reasons. |

Gosh Maria, what a lovely image of a very strange creature! She certainly looks to be looking intently at something, but that is very much the story from the image. I cant imagine what the bird looks like when in a normal position, but that isn't an issue.
There is good detail of her neck - so long! - and in the feathers we can see.
A very unusual portrait of a fascinating bird (judging by the information stated here) - thank you for posting! |

Hello Bruce. I saw a number of these when in Costa Rica this last February, but never in such a position with a lovely clean background as your image. I will for ever recall the flash of blue as they swept past!
Your bird is demonstrating an interesting position which adds to the interest and your pp gives good natural looking detail, including in the lighter top of head area. A truly lovely image. |
