Bruce's was 16/19 not 16/9 which I just mentioned before for info, rather than suggesting it for this one - it gives a very pleasing letterbox shape. Yup Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in fall, Y in winter, Zion, Bryce, De Shelly, Mon Valley, Death Valley, Yosemite, Antelope Canyon and a few more. Loved them! |

I really enjoy your main image here and prefer it to the extra one - the latter may show the eyes, but is in poor light and just isn't that interesting. It's like so many we see.
But the main image is in light which shows off the fur detail well and is far more interesting. It shows good story telling and yes, the ideal would be to see at least one eye, but that does not ruin it for me. Perhaps I am attracted to story telling images and dislike portraits!
It will be interesting to hear if you get it Accepted, should you choose to enter into Nature. It's very sharp with good DOF. |

It's interesting that you enjoyed the grandeur of the tall trees when you were there, but that is not especially what comes out in the final image. What I enjoy is more the rocks and their reflections, which is why I wouldn't take anything off the bottom. You could consider taking a tiny bit off the left, only to allow the bottom left to start relatively dark which will I think help. Otherwise it very much a personal choice how much of the tree canopy you include.
I learnt my landscape photography during 6 trips to US National Parks with a pro-landscape photographer who advocated 16/9 or 16/10 - I use the former a lot.

Barbara - I like this a lot. Your image is so sharp with great clarity on the 2 faces. Good feather detail. As to crop, I like how you have used the left tree as a blocker. You don't want to move left therefore. There is no additional information above r to the right of the bird, so keeping your share crop but closing in from top right a tad may help. Nice image. |

Following you link, it's clear this was this year, so it was the turn of your left knee this time - fingers crossed it does what you want it to do quickly - plenty of physio!
Thanks for posting Mary. |

Hi Bruce. This chap has so much character! Yes, it's static or appears to be and after reading that it was dancing around when you took the shot, I tried to see if I could tell - but not easy.
Despite this, you've given us an image with character and with wings fully open. Thank you. And for showing the 2nd one which is fun and in better light. |

Thank you Barbara. I will finish developing the original as a colour and see how I like it. I may have 2 versions! |

Thanks Bruce. I waited for the walkers to get in a good place to take the shot as I felt without them it was difficult to comprehend the scale of what was in front of me! |
