Isaac. I find this an unusual but very successful image. The bear's position in the frame is one thing I asked myself over and the fact it is partially hidden, yet very visible. It works because it looks so natural in the snowy conditions, it's head is fully visible and the way he looks at you.
It's not doing anything, but that is part of the positive of the image.
I have never photographed these lovely creatures. We are closer to Artic Norway which tends to be popular for Brits to go (getting other wildlife as well), but I know how good Churchill is. |

Marie - I nice well timed capture. You show his character well. I can't add anything to the PP suggestions made - emphasising the eye and lightening the shadows certainly helps your image. |

Welcome Laura to this group.
I've learnt much from this group for I think 3 years now.
One thing is you will receive advice and suggestions as to how to improve a posted image (I do most months!). We can adjust images with no restrictions if they end up for our own library/use, but we need to be more careful for Nature class of PSA Exhibitions. There, images need to materially reflect what was captured at the time. This is what I focus on for my nature images. Anything goes though for Colour/Mono open Exhibitions.
You are lucky to have birds like this close to home. U.K. birds mostly are relatively dull, which is why I hope to return to Costa Rica in 2 weeks time. I think you said in a comment here that you've been there too.
As has been said, the viewer can't see the whole bird which is normally desired. Enjoy the group - I'm sure you will!

Lovely image Mary, which is made by the diagonal position of the animated. I like the way you have lightened it's coat.
I too have been to Costa Rica (twice) without seeing this animal. I hope to return there again in 2 weeks and will ask our local guide! |

Bruce - your patience certainly paid off and your technique of a fixed focus to a point with f10 delivered. I love the colour linkage between the two birds. A fabulous image - congratulations. I hope you succeed in getting this published somewhere - it deserves to be!
We have a planned trip to Costa Rica leaving in 2 weeks - plenty of colourful birds there! |

Thanks Isaac - My rendering is how I remember it being on the day in normal U.K. conditions, but you are right some 'enhancement' is desirable! |
