Yes Jen, the original image doesn't work for a few reasons, but the Armstrong one is too "in you're face" with the bold lettering and apparent much younger age. There are some interesting designs there which could work as a focus. |

Gosh, you've a good eye to see and capture this Albert! I think your pp work shows off the shape well with good snow texture. I do wonder if you flip it may be worth while (allowed for Nature so I'm told). |

Gosh you're creative! I'm going to go for your last version - I prefer the tone which helps to concentrate attention on the dancing couple in my view. I'm inclined to think you should remove the right window area - I don't think the image needs it. Very interesting Kirsti! |

Ed, I love the treatment you've given this, perfect. I too prefer your second image as this to me tells more of a story about the vehicle, but both are excellent in their own way. |

This is a lovely image Colin and perfect in mono. This concentrates the viewer's attention on the wonderful feather detail and it's eye. Wonderful. |

Hello Vinod. This is a very nice understated image, of a type which there are probably many right answers as to the best way to present!
I think you have done well. I would consider cropping a bit off the left to stop the path being as central and lead in lines are often better from near bottom left corner. Then I would see what you think of Colin's idea of cropping from the top to remove the sky. That might improve the feel with that bright area gone.
You've got a lovely arty image here. Well done. |

Many thanks Ed. There were though many tripods that morning with their owners so grateful for the wonderful conditions! Timing and luck plays a large part in what we do! |

Isaac. Your email created a very arty image here and I find it's very successful. It is supposed to ask question as how the thing got into that position! The clear detail in the feathers, neck and face are wonderful. |

Marie - it is good to experiment and I can understand what you were trying to achieve. It still may be possible to end up with a colour version which works, but with less vibrancy and contrast. The mono version here is certainly more successful, but I still have a query about its neck which looks blurred.
Your lucky to have such an interesting spot to photograph herons from close to your home! |

Very skilful Walt and well deserved in your win! The detail is amazing and I like very much that it remains 'believable' and not too HDR'd.
Thank you also for the story about Bodie - fascinating! |

Very interesting this Randy. First, it's a study of how much cropping can we do now with some of the top cameras. This seems too much. But it's still an interesting image.
How true are the coyote's colouring here? If this is true, they are beautiful creatures! |

This is lovely Bruce. It's made by first the baby bear looking down and your position. Then the fur detail you've been able to show is fabulous. I also like the "Spanish moss" (may not be the right name) completes the story of a location used to damp shady conditions. Love it! Thank you! |

Thanks Isaac - I wanted a square crop and will make it a tad larger to include the black rear feathers. Again thanks. |
