Jen this is a lovely portrait! So sharp and clear! You say this is materially out of camera....a great tribute to your new lens quality! I suspect you will use it a lot!
I enjoyed admiring your image Jen. |

Berlin is very much on my TonGo list (when travelling ability returns) - so I am ignorant of the meaning of this image, without your notes. I can understand though what you were driving at.
You have achieved a somber feel and am not sure if more contrast would be helpful here, but I accept that this is very much a personal choice.
It is a pity there are so many branches around leading to shadows which do tend to detract from the message the shapes.
Thank you for sharing this Albert. |

Don, I very much like this image. My take is that you have her the 'right' darkness, both because I suspect that is her true shade, but also any lighter would stop her standing out from the dark background areas.
I am surprised you chose f10 as this has driven the ISO quite high and at that range, I would have expected the bear all to be in focus with a wider choice. I don't see any noise with the high ISO, a testament to both the improved low-light performance of the 7 mkii (I had the mki) And the excellent Topaz software.
Great image! |

This is a cracking image Ed! Your surfer is now well positioned in the frame and your post processing sublime. He stands out despite still having grey tones. One can feel the movement and flow of water wonderfully.
Well done for thinking outside the box and presenting an unusual but successful treated image. Very artistic! |

An unusual shot John and well done to see that there was an image to take here. I enjoyed looking at the reflections of the steps in the side of the car and feel that it's the type of image that requires time to look at the detail and as such, is better in B&W.
Thank you for posting something completely different! |

Jack - I couldn't resist a quick reply to your posting this month as I recognised immediately where your image was taken from - and from a Brit who has only been to USA about 8 times, that's something! White Pocket is a rarely visited controlled area, accessible really by specialised 4x4s down miles of uneven tracks close to Utah/Arizona border.
Anyway - Your skill in adding the moon certainly adds extra interest to this image, which works very well in B&W. I like your image very much.
Here is one I took in September 2013, which I call Brain Rocks at sunrise. I am sure you will know of this little valley with a sole tree. I haven't yet used this image, but I may try in the near future. |

Gosh, it's amazing the detail you have been able to keep from such a large crop and your B&W treatment is very successful....and skilled! Well done Marie! |

What an experience to capture. I love the way the mum seems so relaxed just setting there! You obviously know Yellowstone very well!
I'm sure if you had to you could push the image through Topaz or similar to make the softness less of an issue. But I really enjoyed looking at your image. Thank you. |

Bruce - Nearly fo got to do my comments! This is fabulous! Love it! I imagine you were early or late and this really enhances the small undulations. I've seen a few images of this area and this was a long time ago. Your image reminds me its yet another special place to visit within the US! Thank you for posting. |

Isaac - I love it when an image is posed from an area in the world that I have been to, even iconic locations such as this. It remains very special and I feel sorry for those who never get to visit places such as this!
I love your image and feel that the horizon helps to tell the story of the immense landscape.
Here is my version taken in 2008 when I had a cropped sensor Canon with a 24mm Tilt & Shift lens, so a few portrait images together. I had this printed A1 size on a wall for many years, but always felt that it needed sight of the land pass the horseshoe and some sky!
In 2008 the lake the other side from Page (from memory) was full and we had a nice trip on the lake pass hundreds of house boats, but I believe the water level is now very much lower. |
