Wow Jen! This works very well in B&W - a fantastic mountain view!
The view needs the foreground and you I think was right to query the bush, which comes out very dark vs it's surroundings. Ed's skills to remove it solves the issue! I couldn't do that and world have to work on it with localised work to lighten it, so it stops saying 'look at me'.
But you have a great image Jen. |

Very interesting image Albert! I personally like the feel of the elements you have emphasised here and to give the ship more texture/detail would loose this.
I do wonder whether to tone down the brightness of your waves and do you need both sets of waves?
Here I have cropped the bottom waves out, created a letterbox shape and reduced the the wave brightness. Just an alternative for you! |

This is a striking mountain scene with interesting reflections and helpful variety of shapes. Love it!
It's normal to have the mountain peak shrouded in clouds, so this sort of helps to emphasise the height we are looking at.
I was always told not to leave bright areas at the foot of an image - a rule there to be challenged, but in this instance I think I prefer the crop here.
Very interesting how images from way back can be reworked! This has encouraged me to look back too. Thank you Don! |

Well seen and captured Ed,
I like you first primary image. The bird's wings are well positioned and it's shadow nicely above the board and left of the swimmer. Ideally, the swimmer should have been looking fractionally straighter, but it's position is close enough to give the impression of him looking at the pelican.
I don't like your alternative grey version - the bluer primary one seems more appropriate and pleasing for this shot.
I also like your heavy vignette: it's gives the feeling of viewing your image through a telescope.
Thank you for sharing this well captured shot. |

John - You have shown well the simplicity of the church's architecture with your treatment in this B&W really helping its impact. The design of this part of the church relied on symmetry and as such your dome had to be in the centre.
Your image has impact and I enjoyed looking round it, noting the uniformity of its design. My only doubt is that it's difficult to take on board the scale of the building - you say it's Canada's largest church (and one of the largest domes in the world) but this is difficult to appreciate for lack of scale comparison. |

Gosh Jack, that sounds very close with you all having to evacuate. I hope this was a one off and you are normally a good distance from all the fires we hear about in the UK media.
Your developed B&W image shows the smoke well - I suspect this is difficult without over doing things. Maybe a tad more contrast/clarity, but not on the hillside which looks perfect to me. A topical image and I actually hope you never get the opportunity to take another image like this near your home! |

I am amazed of the detail you have extracted from your huge crop! There is so much detail to enjoy in the textures and relative size of the hands. A lovely wildlife image very skill fully crafted! Thank you for sharing Isaac with the story detail. |

Congratulations Marie on you having 6 images shown and your well deserved award. Clearly it was well admired as shown with the central horizon and I never felt it grated on my enjoyment. But the very top sky isn't contributing and as such it's probably worth altering your master of this wonderful image. I love the glow that you've brought out in so many places to enjoy.
Great image Marie! |

Night sky photography is a completely different world, one I have had any success yet. Last attempt was what in the Namibian desert area last year, when we were coming remotely with no electricity for 2 days.
I find there is enough lightness to the mountain, helped by the tree shapes in the foreground. I do wonder if a portrait version loosing much of the right area, might concentrate the eye on your comet and mountain more. Lovely image Walt though! |

I love the anticipation what you'll post each month - wonderful variety! Like most here, I've not experience deep sea diving, but my daughter and husband have at least one Liver-board trip a year - such a fabulous way to get underwater many times a day/night without the resort to location time! She has been more to Indian Ocean and further south, but also off Mexico etc - I've told her about your location here.
I love your bright well lit interesting Image - as has been said, it 'pops'. Thank you for sharing Mary. |

So envious Randy of the variety of your locations you have in America and I loved looking at your site. We had a great Yellowstone in winter experience a dozen years ago - our all time favourite- perhaps we'll go again!
I love your polar bear shots (both the main image and the one posted within these posts, which has come through sharper).
I've had problems sending Isaac images from my Apple Notebook - but I believe he gets them better if we use - File - Attach a File, rather than clicking the paper clip on the email window. There is also an option with Preferences to click to help Windows users not get the file embedded. |

A very nice simple study Bruce. I live very much the rope and also the background red area, both of which add context to a great study. But in particular, it's the texture of the sea lion that's lovely to enjoy your detail.
I haven't seen these in the wild yet. |
