A soothing minimalist image Albert and one that probably isn't strong in colour. The position of the island is ideal, adding interest and depth. Thank you for sharing a really up to date capture. |

Great shot Don! Your timing (or secretion of this if you took many) was perfect, with the second bird clear of the first one's wings and the second looking at the other. Yes, the look of the 2nd is amusing adding significantly to your image.
I think the branch being carried in is important to the story, making one look and think more about the life of these birds. Love it! |

I chose to really study your portrait Ed before reading your words. Separate from your treatment, I really felt the character of Tom. You timed the shot perfectly, to portray character.
Add your choice of treatment with much skill used, you have a wonderful portrait, which is absolutely lovely for Tom to have. |

Yes this is certainly a Wow image, a great choice for IR and great paths to make the whole image very interesting. Your first main image is what we call a Marmite - either it is loved or hated. I like "different" and for that, yes I admire the first version.
The interesting point to me is that your second version is also a Wow! That is testimony to your composition, choice of IR and base development work. A really interesting image John. |

Jack - a very interesting dune image full of different texture elements. I'm not sure about the heavy vignette, but my main conclusion is that my eye gets lost in the left 1/3. I suggest you consider cropping from the left about half the area to the first ridge making it a square image.
This should leave enough of the left and next lovely area of texture, but the emphasis I think makes more of the lovely curve that takes the eye better into the image. On this basis, you may not need such a dark vignette. |

Thanks Jack. The reference to June in the title is a mistake - mine (I included it in the email to you for no understandable reason!). I was there in March 2014! |

Larry - You have commented on an image or 2 of mine which I have learned much from, so I hope you don't mind me commenting here!
I really like this and would echo what has been said about your choice of shutter speed: this looks perfect to me. If any change is needed at all, I will vote for excluding the bottom threes stones. They can I think be cropped nicely out with out materially cutting any In half. This seems to give foreground interest without having such a wide area ahead of the falls.
Anyway, a fabulous image which I enjoyed viewing. |

A fun image Isaac! I like your portrait crop, concentrates the eye on what's needed to tell the story. Your timing with a piece of 'your' mango in his hands was perfect.
I don't know if this is an option for you....but we had rabbit and squirrel issues at our last house in a rural Yorkshire location. We invested in a cage trap from Amazon which trapped them humanely. The rabbits were moved north a few miles, rabbits south! We didn't ring them to check if they returned, but visitor numbers to our garden reduced! |

Mary - This is a lovely scene! As to shape, I do feel the top cloud says 'look at me' too much, taking the eye away too much from all the other interest in the image and that lovely shape from the bottom left. But I would just crop from the top and not have the square shape leave you loosing some of the water detail at the bottom: it is that which helps the eye start there and move upwards and round.
Just my thoughts - and I love the cloud under the bridge. |

Walt I love this! What is so special is the silky water leading to the lovely night sky.
I hesitate to make a change suggestion........but I do wonder whether the brightness/colour of the right green foliage is too much and distracting. Yes, its absolutely right to have brought out more detail from your original, but I think the end result may be stronger if there is less to compete against the water and sky.
Fabulous image! |

Hi Mary, Ive come a tad late to this month's reviews, but that gives me the benefit of reading all that has been said above!
I too prefer your last edit - I find your foliage colours believable and the whole image has so much interest to enjoy everywhere. Love it! |

Thanks Walt. I think I'm going to have to try Topaz! Your work here has achieved much, particularly with the small bee. Impressive. Thank you. |

Many thanks for your advice Isaac. How about this - I've cropped it to a square which I can see may be a better shape for this. Then I've tried to address your noise point. I'm rubbish it even telling when an image has noise or not! Ive tried here (Lightroom only) to select the whole image except for the bird and its catch, then used both noise slider (quite heavily) and negative clarity. |
