This is a very nice and interesting urban study Jen and very well seen and taken, with you natural frame. There are interesting Victorian chimneys to enjoy, graffiti (which is somehow appropriate to the setting and adds story to the scene.
I too found the tv aerial a nuisance as it's not quite all there, but that's a minor point.
Definitely better in B&W and I like how you have processed it - it's 'believable'. |

Albert, I like very much the treatment you have used here, it seems appropriate for the setting. They are both very relaxed which is nice and that fact is interesting with it being taken some 18 years ago: I bet they see even more cameras now!
I too feel that it is nice for a portrait to show engagement with the photographer if possible and thus them looking at one of your fellow travellers takes the edge off a tad for me, but I still very much enjoyed your image. Thank you. |

Ive been looking at this image for a few days, not looking at the reviews, but trying to work out why I felt there was something just not quite right! At first quick view, it looks wonderful, with much detail to enjoy, but something was nagging me and I eventually gave up and sought guidance from others!
Yup, it's the evenness of the tones in the water which isn't natural. There needs to be light and dark to correspond with the sky and clouds.
I also find your border too much white - saying 'look at me'.
I still enjoyed admiring your image though Don! |

That's an amazing instrument Ed, and you said there was a lot more of it! As a pattern study, it's excellent - Much to enjoy. I found myself asking myself what the scale is that I'm looking at - huge beyond doubt, but that was my only 'negative' I properly trying to understand your subject. I found it fascinating though. |

I like the white background! I found it helped my study of each area of the bird and it makes it an unusual image which is a positive.
My initial review of the heron concluded that it was the neck area in particular was lacking the same detail as you achieved in the big feather areas. Don's added contrast has improved this area but some may regret the loss of subtleness in some of the already contrasty areas. I thus suggest you play with some selective additional contrast and/or texture.
I really like your portrait John. |

I'm with Ed Jack, in finding that the centre right area is so bright that my eye went straight to that area and struggles to take in the wonderful variety of effects in each area. I agree that the bright area has a part to play and an important part, but it's contribution, I feel would be maximised toned down somewhat.
I think you have a really interesting study hee Jack and thank you for posting it. |

Isaac, you image makes me smile and that is unusual for most images involving all but the most colourful ducks. It is your timing of the shot which to me makes this picture - evenly spaced with their position making it clear how they walk.
Then we have your very interesting detail given to us, which I add my thanks. I haven't seen these birds in the wild, but we have a strong Wetland Trust entity with a number of lake areas round the country, but the largest is Slimbridge, which is quite well known internationally.
I was also interested in your narrative about Iceland: we were due to be there next month for a week before moving on to the very north of Norway - but this will just have to be rebooked for another year! |

I thought you processed your image very well Marie! It's only some of the experts here who are so good with software who are able to take an already excellent image, just that bit further! I wouldn't have thought for example that Dehaze filter would help re rays!
Excellent image a Marie! |

This is a fabulous landscape with interest everywhere, plus classic lead in river from the left corner. It make me want to be there.
I do like your shadow lightened version. There is more detail visible and I do wonder whether you could adjust this a fraction more.
A lovely image Mary |

What an experience seeing this which is made by the third rhino looking directly at the pair. Well captured! I like your crop and development. Yes, it's a pity the white egret on the right decided to fly off just at that moment, but this to me doesn't ruin the story you have captured. Well done! |

I love this photo Bruce! It looks somehow as you are below the bird, taking the image with a wide angle! So unusual and that is part of its strength.
I don't find the close up leaves distracting - they help to tell the story of the location to me. Yes, very sharp and we'll developed. Thank you for posting this! |
