A very well timed shot Jen! It is made by the X of the escalators and the fact that your timing had them crossing just ahead of the lady.
Yes, crop from the right as suggested already. I like her smile - the fact she is engages with you makes the image for me. It wouldn't be interesting at all, if she was looking forward.
My only query is whether you can work on the shadows of her cheeks? On my screen they seem too dark and her left arm has a dark band round it.
A well captured image I feel - thank you for sharing! |

An interesting location Albert! Yes, very moody - perhaps too moody!
I do prefer what Larry has done, particularly to the land. In now invites the eye to wander up the valley more and take note more of what there is there.
The sky is personal preference I think. Too much detail and interest can take the focus and purpose of an image away from the landscape - I thus prefer your sky!

I like this very much Don. Waterfalls make interesting B&W images, especially, like yours, where there is a variety of water volume passing over rocks, giving differing detail and interest.
I see the white area as not blown out, but a mass of water volume travelling at speed! The fact this is near the top is helpful as it takes my eye up there.
We're all shots taken at 1/4, with the HDR varied through the aperture? I'm not good at deciding the speed to use!
Interestingly, my new Olympus Camera has a live ND facility (2 to 5 EV options) which can be handheld down to about 1sec, because of the 7+ stop IS in lens/body. It's amazing looking through the viewfinder at the effect before taking the shot! I need to practice it when allowed to get out properly! |

I very nice documentary image Ed, which is perfect for B&W. It's all about the rigging I think and the cloudy conditions add to the drama and story with the sheeting. I like the dark foreground, encouraging the eye to move upwards to enjoy all the detail above.
Thank you for sharing. |

She looks a really interesting character John and your title seems very apt! You also seem to have chosen the perfect person to use the IR technique as this look helps to add to her character somehow.
If anything, I find her face just a fraction bright and wonder if to lessen this without adding to the contrast would make a difference. Thank you for posting this. |

I actually prefer you B&W conversion to the colour Jack: I prefer the emphasis on the detail in the sand, which is what a like most from the image.
I find the angle you took the shot from a bit confusing in terms of the viewer being able to understand the relative scale of shrub. I wonder if a crop from bottom and left as here focusses attention more onto the sand detail? |

I'm really impressed with this image Isaac - a WOW image for sure. It is completely made by the separation of its body and wings. One really feel the struggle the bird is having uplifting the struggling huge fish clear of the water. If the yellow in the water is as it was, it should probably stay.
A great action shot. Well done. |

Thank you Walt. I have reduced the saturation a tad and yes, the effect is more believable whilst maintaining the variety of colours. |

Marie, the scale of the mountains is really striking and your image is made to me by the cabin. Mary's adjustment to the clouds is interesting, but to me the fact she has lightened the sky has made the residual lines of your removed wires far less obviously.
You image really makes me want to go to Italy. We have been to Austria in spring/summer a few times, but never rural Italy. One day! |

The top 2/3 is definitely a "wow". I love the snow capped mountain inclusion - it makes it such an unusual image.
I find the bottom 1/3 too dark on my screen. I'm sure it is proportionately right as it is and to lighten it would make the result unrealistic. Do you need it all is the question I think.
Very interest image Walt! |

Mary, we loved the Yellowstone in winter experience when we had 8 great days there and still use the special boots we got, rated at -25c in North Norway!
I too like your image. It covers the unique aspects of Yellowstone, with it thermal steam, snow and hoar frost. I like the cold feeling of the blue, but a tad less may be a good compromise. I enjoyed very much viewing your image May, thank you.

Well done Abhijeet in the timing of this shot. I actually prefer your crop! I like the non-central result with the space in front of it. I find your bird stands out well from the background.
I do wonder whether you can bring out any more feather detail in its body? I find the effect on The bird too smooth With lack of detail and it may because of the heavy crop, but the head is very sharp and clear. |

How lucky you are having interesting birds like this coming to your garden! I assume you have feeder to encourage them.
It's a lovely shot made so by the interesting shades in the background and fabulous feather detail on the body. Like others, I found the head dark, but I suspect that is how it was. One can see the eye clearly.
Nice to see an image taken during lockdown! Thank you Bruce. |
