Many thanks John for taking the trouble to 'start again' here. I agree with both the slightly wider view (to add context) and the extra contrast. |

Albert. Yes very much a green world and I have enjoyed viewing it. It hadn't occurred to me, but I suppose if there were no browns visible, it would then qualify as Mono - but I suspect that wasn't your intention. Very sharp and thank you for posting something different for us to think about! |

I like this view a lot Ed, but prefer the treatment provided by John. I don't believe the added contrast with the punchy clouds as a distraction to the aged building. I also think the removal of the left pair of visitors helps, but the right group help with the viewers' understanding of the scale of the building. A nice shot. |

I like this Street action shot and it is probably best in B&W. You have caught the group clearly active in their performance and as such I would think it's a good street subject rather than a general B&W image. Everything is sharp and the performers are separate from each other. |

I like the concept here Jack, but it doesn't quite work for me as here. I find the light area to the bottom right too bright, as is (on my screen) part of the left leaf. I believe the two leaves need to have more texture visible and possibly the overall shape a bit more letterbox. You have created an interesting composition. |

I love this Jen! So much texture and very sharp. Am sure it wouldn't have been nearly as striking in colour. I do wonder if a horizontal flip would be better, so the line of the bonnet starts at bottom left. Nice image. |

Don - I love the texture and detail you have captured in the wooden farmhouse. The front bushes to stand out a great deal and with the rear trees being less bright, this combination stops the natural depth to the image. I've never developed an IR image, so I wouldn't know if it's possible to selectively lighten the background trees and tone down the front bushes - I imagine it should be. |

I definitely prefer this Isaac! More detail visible in top 1/4, whist removing what I saw as a distraction. |

Many thanks indeed Larry - I love the changes you made. I am struggling to reproduce the apparent crispness you achieved (I use Lightroom). May I ask what tools you used to achieve the effect on the elephant's trunk/head? |

Abhjeet - Were both taking elephants! B&W works very well and I like your processing.
I like your crop of sides and top. You need the little one's neighbours to help the story of size comparison and leadership. You've taken quite a bit of the surrounding animals away and I judge you have left the best amount.
As to the bottom, you were forced into this crop because of the egrets. You could try dropping the crop to include the top part of the left bird and then cloning it out with grass.
A lovely image. |

I like this Mary and echo the prior comments re your skilful processing work.
I also like the sort of side-on aspect here. For this type of bird straight on doesn't work as you loose it's character. Here, you've clearly got one eye which appears to be looking backwards! you've shown us the lovely tail detail too. So I like it! Whether a Nature judge would is different - arguably not much story: but that doesn't mean it's not a successful image! |

Walt - A very nice image of an impressive structure! It's position in the frame is very interesting (to me anyway). My reaction on looking at it ahead of prior comments that some of the right and may be top sky should be removed. So I've been looking harder!
What is clear is that you have not cropped any at all. So you decided at the taking stage where exactly you wanted the structure to be. I Find that impressive and I bow to your far greater experience over this! When I tried cropping off some of the top sky, the result only emphasised the structure's apparent leaning backwards. And taking a tad off the right did nothing positive!
So I've leant something - thank you! |

Marie - I very much like the quirky expression you have captured here with clear evidence of her eating. The animal is sharp and well captured. I like Bruce feel you have been too tight in your crop. I like very much how the face is looking slightly to the viewers right and as such you have positioned the head slightly left. This works well, but I would give more space all around whilst still achieving this core position. Also, try reducing the whites in the bottom left plant a tad.
A nice image! |

Isaac, you did well to capture this in a nice colourful area with a clear view of his face and timing the shot with her eating away. Interesting that you were forced to use so much ISO, but I can't detect noise to ruin your image. I like very much the clear coat - well exposed and treated plus removing the branches has helped significantly.
My only question is whether it is possible to tone down more the top background? |
