Thank you All for your advice. Gratefully received! I will adjust the size of my master file as well and toning down the pinks a tad. |

A great image Isaac! Your camera has enough pixel horsepower for a tight crop which has successfully removed the other birds out of the frame - and a square really helps here with the bird's angle. Choosing a frame where the beak is just out of the water helps have additional interest with the water clearly falling off the beak. I love the lighting you have on the head of the bird. A lovely image! |

Kent - This may be one of this situations when the image is interesting and one for your collection, rather than it featuring in any form of competition. The large crop is the main issue, with the resultant softness and Walt's use of Topaz Sharpen seems to have left it looking obviously 'resurrected' - although using this on a full sized image may have much better results. Thanks for sharing. |

Very interesting Walt! The output is certainly striking and obviously sharp throughout. As a nature shot, the lack of the complete flower could be a problem, but as a general colour image this issue should be of less concern. I too have not tried photo-stacking - yet! |

Mary - A lovely image, particularly with your processing, which has given so much detail in the shadow areas - but without the end result looking too "HDR'd"! The sky is interesting and having part of this reflected is great. I was wondering whether a letterbox format might concentrate the viewer - here is the effect. It obviously shows. Less sky, but does focus on the landscape, plus its reflection. |

Abhijeet - A nice image: I like where you have positioned the bird on the left 1/3 line looking inwards. The bird and enough of the branch is sharp. My only thoughts are whether there is some part of the bird's yellow collar is burned out (or whether a Judge would think so) - and the same with part of the main branch + leaves is also a risk here. I also think I would darken the background just a tad. Hope it does well for you! |

Bruce - I echo what has been said before.... a well timed shot , sharp with the back branch nicely out of focus, but clear enough to help the storey. No critique appropriate! |

Good suggestions Isaac, thank you! I stick too rigidly to a square format and your extra cropping top and bottom works well - Plus the extra vignette, darkening greens/pinks. |
