Isaac - I had seen with interest your recommendations here - Sorry to have taken so long to comment/reply: i am finding it hard to achieve what I need to nowadays as retired! Not enough hours in the day!
Anyway, yes the two blue areas are a distraction. I don't use Photoshop, so I have tried here to use the healing brush in Lr, selecting the area by colour pick and then used saturation, exposure and negative clarity to reduce the impact of the two areas. They remain there, but somewhat less of a distraction.
I have also reduced the white and increase a bit clarity of the monkeys.
I am content that this improves the image, but knowing it has succeeded far less than your Ps editing. |

Amazing reflection Isaac! Looking at the Herron (ignoring background) and turning the image 180 degrees, I can't tell which is the bird - unusual!
What's a pity is the reflection of the cropped out tree draws the eye away from the Herron x2. This bottom area looks sharp and clear, I wonder if it has too much clarity added - or if negative clarity would tone the area down somewhat. |

An interesting action image which you have extracted from a wider shot - which works very well. I love the detail of the fight marks and the brown colour of this area helps to show them off. It's great you have an eye of both animals very clear and sharp.
If you are toning down the top background, I would suggest the same treatment is made to the small amount of sand to the lower left of the animals. |

Walt - I suspect you took this knowing that your eye saw it as a B/W image and it clearly succeeds. Colour would do it no favours. I need to look at Silver Effects which I have (when it became a free download) but not used yet.
I like the fact that one is drawn to the centre of the image with its lightness, but I think the far right sky above the horizon is possible fractionally too bright - if you tone this down it would help mask exactly where the horizon is. |

Lovely shot Mary. As a new member to this group, I haven't seen past under water shots (I will look at prior history to the extent able). Can't add more, other than to say that having snorkelled in Costa Rica last month without a camera, I intend to solve this by buying a upto 20m capable compact camera, hopefully with Raw capability. |

Nice capture abhijeet - particularly with the added interest of the left one throwing up some fruit to eat - I've seen touchans do this in Costa Rica. I agree that there is no point loosing a bit of tail. It's still tight, but I think acceptable for this type of shot. A little more space to the left also works whilst maintaining the feel of the birds looking into the right half.
I would be interested to know whether your under exposure was deliberate. I can understand the advantage when there is a lot of backlighting coming through tree vegetation. |

Nice image Bruce. I like the fact you time the shot with his mouth open which adds interest. The foreground and background is sympathetic to the animal. I find it interesting that you chose a portrait shot, presumably to include the out of focus tree above which works. If there was no interesting features ahead of him, I can understand this choice. I personally do not find the lack of ground ahead of him an issue as he is still. |

Thanks Bruce - and you are right that the original & final images are the wrong way round. I have told Isaac and I think it's a nuicence that my Apple Notebook sends him images imbedded within the email, rather than as clear attachments. |
