A great capture Isaac. As cropped I am inclined to agree that the left branches are frustratingly distracting. I do wonder whether including more of the nest creates less of a portrait type image and tells a fuller story about the osprey and its nest - under these circumstances, the branches on the left are more logical. Your tight crop gives impressive impact with great capture of the eye and concentration of the bird - its a question of whether this detail can be kept while having a little more of the nest shown. |

Kent - your original exposure with a lot of water have inevitably left the two animals too dark. I too use Lightroom rather than Photoshop and it should be possible to not have the water so light, leaving an image which focusses on the two well captured creatures better. |

Walt - Yes a fabulously striking image that you must be really pleased with. I think I agree with the point already made about the bottom right rocks: it's the bright parts that adds to the slight distraction. |

Lovely shot Mary and I feel that bringing the foreground landscape detail out really helps to give context to the main mountain subject. |

Abhijeet, The crop is too tight and you have plenty of space to work with. I think the birds were captured taking off, so I think you need to crop to reflect this, leaving space for them to continue flying in the same direction. Would portrait or a bigger square be better? As to colour and brightness generally - there is a huge difference between the original and "final": what was the true colour and brightness of the birds? I find the background particularly too bright. |

A great image Bruce and I can't really suggest anything to change it - I agree with Isaac that his catchlight change is worthwhile.I particularly lick the position of the bird in the frame. |

Thanks Walt and I really loved Costa Rica - we intend to return within the next few years - it has so much to offer, both in experiences and photograph opportunities. |

Many thanks Mary - I agree with your suggestions (to both images) and will attack both with the inevitable huge amount of processing work needed after a wildlife trip. |

Many thanks for your suggestions and I will look at these when back at my laptop. For info, here is another sloth pic taken yesterday which I have just made iPhone adjustments to. |
