This bird has a great DoF, great lighting and color. I absolutely love the way you can see the catchlight in his eye! The bird is tack sharp.
This is just a wonderful image.
Do you know what type of bird this is? |

You called this Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone and I assume the subject of the image is the pools or hot springs on the left of the image. It seems to me that this should be the focus of the image. I find the tree stubs distracting from the hot springs if I should be looking at the hot springs.
I like the way the water is pouring out over the pool and you have seem to have 3 levels of pools.
I think Walter did a good crop for you.
Good luck. |

Hi David. Welcome to the group. Perhaps, next time we can coordinate our visit to the McKee-Besher Sunflower Field.
The bee is in tack sharp focus and you can see the yellow pollen from the sunflower all over his little body. You can see the shadow of the bee on the sunflower as well.
I like your "re-crop" much better because the bee is the focus of the image and in the originally submitted image the center of the sunflower is not sharp.
Good job with the re-crop.

The pelican is a wonderful subject and the evening orange glow give the image great tones. I think that Janice added that in her version for your consideration but I think of orange with the setting sun. I also like the tighter crop because it makes the pelican the more prominent subject of the image. With the changes that were suggested this is just a real keeper! Frame it, enter it in competitions, sell it, or whatever you planned. |

Have you noticed that flowers tend to make people happy?
I think you did a wonderful job with your Covid Experiment.
I like the black background that sets the Poppy apart making it a still life. The color filters that you used are very nice and work well for this image.
Good work! |

I love butterflies but often find them quite difficult to capture to get sharp image. I love the lighting on your butterfly in addition to the colors and patterns on its wings that make it attractive and pleasing. You also did well with the shallow DOF.
I agree as others have said before me that my eye wanders to the vertical stem in the right corner of the frame which detracts a bit from your beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
Great job overall. |
