This is a great concept between the living and dead.
I love the bright yellow pop of color the flower gives to the photo.
I too think that a vertical crop strengthens this image.
I also agree that there needs to be some separation between the branch/stick and the flower. Sometimes you can achieve that by moving around the flower or laying on your knees, etc. Good job.

I resized and colored the image to the original. I tried to remove the paper with the cloning tool but that is not my strong suit.
Maybe this looks a little better. |

Janice, I can see how hard you worked to make sure that the shapes of the geese were recognizable among the chaos. I like the fact that you lightened the photo and the figures are more recognizable. If you study the image long enough one can make out whole images of bird along the photo everywhere except in the middle, where it seems to be a bit muddled. I would like to see some clear shapes of birds there.
This is clearly near and dear to you. Good work.

The composition and color of this image are striking. I love the red leading lines of the Amaryllis running into white and then into the stem. While the horizontal leaves could be a distraction, I don't know that I see it, and perhaps you could blur it a bit more. What concerns me more is the piece of petal in the photo on the left, about half way down the page that is not part of the subject Amaryllis. I would try to remove that. |
