I tried to make it less 'flat mirror'-like by offsetting the center, but your observation is well taken. |

I hadn't seen the similarity to The Scream, but you're right. |

I too, immediately looked for the Hatter, but with the opposite vibe to the March Hare.
The only issue I see is the depth of field. You've tried to match the bokeh in the original foreground by blurring the castle. It's almost enough to be effective, but it has hard edges, and then the sky behind it goes back to perfect focus. My eye sees that as incongruous.
(I'm also reminded of a song from my youth called 'Taking the Queen to tea', by a ska band called Heavy Manners) |

a simple but effective composite. It seem like you used a black to white gradient, rather than black to transparent. This has muted the beautiful, rich color of both originals. |

Excellent. I might have added slightly more contrast in the city lights behind the buildings. Other than that, I wouldn't change anything. |

Emotional gravity is very difficult to convey visually. The starkness of your original image conveys the foreboding tragedy better than the softer composite, and both require an explanation to convey the true gravity. The image itself is well composed, but also more confusing than the original. I might have used more transparency and less warp to make the water appear more present. |

I've been to Stillman Valley many times. My family would camp at Rock Cut or White Pines at least once every summer. The image has good depth, but the framing seems off balance. The foreground doesn't add a lot, and the brightness of the upper right leads the eye out of the frame. There appears to be a window violation on the right edge. It may not actually break the window, but the TTW is so close to the edge that it's hard to tell. |

This has good depth and lots of contrasting interest. Strict leading lines on the left, and confusion on the right. The horizon seems slightly tilted to the right, but that isn't distracting. It might have more impact if the horizon was a bit lower. |

An excellent image that demonstrates the exaggerated parallax when using wider angle lenses, and the reduction of that parallax by using 'de-fishing' softawre. I assume the unedited image has more depth, but also more edge distortion. Would love to compare. |
