Hi Pierre,
I think bracketing is a good approach to this kind of scene. Often I will take one bracket for the sky and refocus on the foreground and shoot another complete bracket. I then have a lot of data to use later in post. My only suggestion for this image would be to push all of the sky highlights towards orange as the blue and the orange you do have in the sky look really nice together.

Hi Kathryn,
What a cool scene to find, lots of potential here!
For me I think the sky is really empty. I would consider cropping out the sky and emphasizing the mud cracks and skull or try a sky replacement and color grade the image or try a B&W version.
Best wishes, Todd |

Hi Lamar,
This is an interesting ruin.
I feel that the idea of a deserted area comes through in the photo but could be reinforced by increasing the drama of the image. Perhaps an increase in the saturation of the building, darkening of the sky or free hand vignette would give a more ominous feeling.

Thank you Pierre,
I only had to use 2 focus layers, one on the closest bushes and the other of the mountain in the middle. I was surprised how different they where--shooting at f22 I would have thought that the image would have been sharp throughout but this was not the case. For me the lesson was that even at f22 for a single frame I'm not going to get the best sharpness through the entire image (if that is what I'm looking for).

Hi Judy,
I like the composition with the road leading into the image. This really gives the impression that the world in transitioning from night to day. The stars are pinpoint. I am surprised you shot this at f/22 but it worked! You definitely made the best of a rough situation (3am alarm).

Hi Frans,
I like the energy and detail of the city, everything looks very crisp. The exposure is good with no blown out city lights yet enough shadow detail to see the building faces along the canal. The reflections in the water add a nice touch down the middle of the image. The sky replacement looks natural and complements the scene. Nice job!'
