The island was named (in French) by the French explorer Champlain. From the sea, the island's bare rock mountain looked like a desert.
A polarizer would certainly have helped. |

Thanks for that explanation. Now I'll have to get Waterlogue and try this. |

OK, I am lost. I can't find the final image in any of the originals. What am I missing?
I still have my digiscope for my "big boy" cameras, but haven't used it in years. How heavy is the one you used for this and did you use a tripod? |

Wow! What a great Half Dome image. I can't see any thing that could improve this shot. Since we have probably been there and taken lots of Half Dome images that don't match this one, we can probably all appreciate the light you found and your composition. |

Great shot. The Swallowtail is incredibly sharp and the background appropriately soft. Did you use portrait mode for that effect? I agree with Jerry about a crop on the bottom, but the right side is OK to me, though removing the yellow flower on the edge could be an improvement. A lovely butterfly image! |

I really like what happened with your merged image. I haven't ever tried Waterlogue. Now I will have to try. How long did it take you to work your way through this technique? And, how does the "double exposure" work? A quick look at my Scott Kelby Iphone photography book was not helpful.
You certainly do challenge us to try new approaches and spend more time on what we do. |

Wow, a new gadget to think about! Am I reading the lighting correctly? The shadow on the lowest petal suggests that the flash was above and behind the blossom, but you say you had the phone in one hand and the flash in the other. How did you make that work? Neat shot. |

This image really shows the contrast between the wonderful setting and the stark nature of what is at your feet. A really nice capture of the shifting hues as the eye travels from near to far. Great job. |
