I agree with Sally. Also, I prefer your submission, I think it is very well done and I think the background adds to the story. |

Hi Dremma, thanks for the comments. I agree with all of them; the crunchy trees and the shoreline, etc. You are correct; the detail, if there was any, in the lighthouse is gone. I'm not sure about the mid-range though, I kind of like them as they are although I have a tough time settling on a proper exposure in the finished image. |

I like the way you cropped it, in my opinion it is a more powerful image. |

Nice job with the panorama, for me it can be a little tricky getting an image framed with the drone and I find that for me a panorama is the best option. I like Pete's idea of just showing the domes but I think you can achieve that with just a crop of your current image. I think that your focus and exposure are right on. Well done. |

Beautiful image, very dramatic. I love the subject and I think the composition and angle are right on. I agree with the other comments regarding the bright sidewalk and perhaps straightening the image. To my eye, the castle could be a bit brighter. |

I like your image and I agree with the others, I think replacing the sky and cropping out the parking lots might be an improvement. To my eye the image is slightly underexposed, by perhaps 1/2 stop. |

Hi Don, I really like this image and I think you have done a great job handling the tricky lighting. The sky looks good and you did well bringing out the details in the shadows. I like how you have composed this with the shore wraping around the left side of the image. I sometimes have problems with my gimbal being level, I'm not sure why it gets out of calibration. |

Hello Pete, impressive image. I love the scene and the composition. I also think that you did very well with the lighting. To me the colors look great and the water has a very nice texture to it. I find this to be a very exciting image, well done. |

Great image and I like Beth's comments. To me the door with sign make the image. It did not occur to me that the man was going to disappear into that door until Beth mentioned it. Good timing and a nice image. |

Lovely image. I like how you have framed it and that none of the faces are obscured by someone, difficult to achieve that with a bunch of people. The B&W rendering works very well. I get a good feel for the story line. |

Thanks for you thoughts and comments. I also prefer the hand in the photo. One thought of mine is that if I had had a few more seconds to frame the image the hand would have been in the original. I agree, it's not photojournalism, it is the photographer telling as story. |

Hi Lance, thanks for the comments and suggestions. I totally agree with you about the right wall and I like the way you have handled it. I'm not sure about the left wall though, I like the way you handled it but I think I prefer my way better.
I am on the fence about post production adding and removing and so on. I got into photography shooting mostly slides back in the 70's and when I first started doing digital I was adamantly opposed to the altering of images, perhaps because I was unable to do so with slides. Anyhow, I have changed my view and right now my personal thought is that it is okay to alter (for other than photojournalism images) as long as doing so doesn't materially alter the story line.
I agree about being careful when framing an image, I have a tendency to frame my images a little too tight. Thanks again for your thoughts and comments.

Hi Marianne, I think that you have once again captured a great image. I like the relationship between the kid and the poster and the I love the context of the terminal that you are showing in the image. I get a feeling of being there myself. I think that you have framed the image very well and I like the B&W rendering. |

Hi Lance, I really like this image and how you have included many elements to tell a story, I love the mop handle and the bird drawing on the right side. I certainly think your image meets the street photography "type". I know what you mean about the guy watching you and smiling for the camera, I guess he doesn't get street photography :).
Street photography certainly takes me out of my comfort zone. There are so many variables involved in street photography; ask permission or don't ask. If the photographer asks then the subject may want to pose or interact with the photographer. If you don't ask then you may end up with a hostile subject - I don't mind a few dirty looks from the subject if that is all the farther it goes. In my ideal world the subject realizes you are taking their photo but is indifferent and just goes about his or her activity.
Again, I really like your image and your description of how you obtained it. |

Hi Beth, I like your image and I think the B&W rendering is perfect. To my eye you have handled the exposure in the shadows quite well, I can see the people clearly. I like your cropping but I'm not sure it is the best. I like the street like and I might want it in the image but the bald sky is a problem. I guess that given what you have to work with your crop is probably the way to go. |
