Thanks for your comments. I like the B&W, I'm going to try that myself. His face has lots of nice lines and textures that lend themselves to B&W. |

I love the image, the mood reminds me of a Chinese painting. The soft greens make a great background. The composition is very good, my eye moves around the image before settling on the birds. What did the original image look like? How long a lens did you use? |

That's a good point Lisa. I'll have to try that now that spring is finally here. |

Bob, you're fortunate to have a great place like this to photograph, old rusty stuff is the best. What time of day was this taken? I think stronger shadows might enhance the image. |

Great image, I love how you turn landscapes into abstract art. |

The clouds, colors and lighting are very nice. I agree with the other comments that the image doesn't have a strong point of interest. From personal experience I know that it can be difficult to leave out parts of a scene that, while pleasant to look at, don't contribute to an image that draws the viewer in. |

Thanks for the comments Trey. I like your idea for the 16x9 format, after looking at the image more I see that the lights etc. are not necessary. |

Gary, thanks for the constructive comments. I'm going to try to do something about the tree and lamp posts in Photoshop. I was in Chicago in mid October and the weather was pretty good. I got some nice photos of the Bean in Millennium Park, you have to get there really early to avoid a crowd. Of course you can work people into the composition. There are also 2 giant screens in Millennium Park that have rear projection images, that could be especially good after a rain with wet pavement. I went up in the John Hancock building to see sunset. The line to get up there was longer than I expected and I just made the sunset, so allow plenty of time if you plan to go up there. Next time I may try out the Sears Tower. An architectural river tour was good, we took an early tour for the morning light. |
