3 Jan 19 Comment No problem Lisa, I knew what you meant. I would like to enter this image into competition at my club and the wonky buildings concern me. I'm not sure if people will realize they are that way in reality. My parents were from the Netherlands, so I find the wonkiness charming....I'm not sure if everyone else feels the same way :) Jan 15th
3 Jan 19 Comment A wonderful example of an urban landscape. I enjoy the stark graphic feel of the image and the variety of shapes--squares, rectangles, and circles--add interest. The red, blue and yellow work well together. The empty branches add to the feeling of abandonment. I like the empty sky as I feel it enhances the stark theme. Jan 10th
3 Jan 19 Comment The complementary blue and orange work well together. I find given the size of the building, I would like to see more sky at the top.

Personally I prefer the cropped version Kieu-Hanh has shown us. Beautiful leading line and the building really pops from the colours in the sky.

3 Jan 19 Comment An interesting subject in a pleasing arrangement. Nice colour and clarity. Jan 10th
3 Jan 19 Reply Thank you Lisa! The buildings are definitely wonky. They're 16th century canal houses, very tall, narrow and leaning. I've tried to make them look less wonky, and this is the best I could come up with.

3 Jan 19 Comment In my opinion this is a beautiful pose and perfect timing; you captured the flamingo just as it is lifting its head from the water. The water drops dripping from its beak forming the concentric circles makes the image extra special. I find you have lovely colour and detail in the feathers and a great reflection. The dark branches at the top pull my eye away from the subject, and I suggest cropping about halfway into the branches reflection to eliminate the distraction. Jan 7th
3 Jan 19 Reply Thank you for your lovely comments and your suggestion. I have made the crop and look forward to hearing what everyone thinks. Jan 7th
3 Jan 19 Comment Shooting outdoor lights can be very challenging. You've done a nice job capturing the happy holiday colours and you have also managed to retain detail in the whites of the main subject. I find the light in the background takes my attention away from the snow family. I would suggest darkening the green leaves between the two tree trunks and also the light coming from the windows on the right side of the image. Jan 7th

In my opinion, the lovely soft lighting wonderfully highlights the incredible textures in the image. The warm yellow and orange tones work well together and provide a pleasing sense of harmony. The patterns of the tiles act as great leading lines pulling my eye through to the beautiful outdoor scene in the distance.
