Darcy,
No, she wasn't the model for the tattoo. The question made her laugh and help frame my image.

Darcy,
I do not have them sign a release seeing that I do not intend on having my images published. In the case of this couple, I started a conversation then asked if I could take their picture. What I wanted to know was, was she the model for the tattoo. We engaged for a short conversation then I asked and they agreed. Some times I ask for permission, but if I am on a tour I usually just take the photo. Over the next few months, I will post some where I asked and some where I did not. I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Greg |

Syed,
A very nice night cityscape. Be cause it is enlarged on my monitor, it looked a little soft, but when I brought it into Photoshop it was very sharp. I agree with Xiao that I think it would look better with a straight horizon line. My only other suggestion would be to tone down the highlights a little bit on the building on the right. All in all I enjoyed your image.
Best regards,

Quang,
A very nice seascape. I agree with the previous comments that a little cropping would help improve your image. I think the contrast of the boat against the blue sky works really well. I tend to agree with Darcy that the other boats do not add anything to the image and can be removed.

Darcy,
Thanks for your feedback. I am pretty sociable but asking strangers for images got a little getting use to. I am a bit more at ease with it now, and this couple were fun to interact with.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that the oil painting filter was not a good choice.

Hi Darcy,
Just one last comment. I have enjoyed your floral images. In my wondering through the PSA Study Groups, I came upon Dick States in Group #6. If you have some time, he has provided some interesting feedback to group members regarding floral photography.
Best regards,

Tom,
Thanks for your feedback. I used the tattoos to break the ice, but my image was posed to try to capture the moment between the couple. She just had a great smile. I plan on postings some more street images over the next few months.

Hi all,
I am attaching a redo. I needed to brighten up the image.

Xiao,
I think your image captures your intent of a young man lost in thought. I am not sure your redo in post processing works for me. There seems to be a better balance between the model and the reflection in the original. The rework seems to have over saturated the models skin and clothes and it seems to distract from the original feel of the image. You may want to consider converting to black and white, or trying to balance the colors.
Best regards,

Tom,
A very nice architectural image. At first I thought this was a night scene, but your description describes the condition as a very bright day. I think your conversion to black and white and your post processing work well on this image. Just 2 points to consider. I think the two lights add to the look of the image, so my vote is to keep them in. Secondly, I find the image a bit too dark. I tried using a levels adjustment (the white eye dropper on the light on the right) just to bright up the highlights a little. It gave the image just a little more contrast.
Best regards,

Hi Darcy,
Your image has a nice soft color palette and works well as a botanical abstract. Although I want to focus in on the center of the image, my eyes are drawn to the lower portion which is the brightest portion of the image. You may want to consider a vignette or the radial filter to draw the focus back to the middle.
Best regards,
