Thanks for all your comments. It's very interesting to hear your views and reactions. In reality, apart from the removal of the disjointed stairs which were in last month's submission, the only changes I have made to this are are the retoning and light adjustment. I haven't, for example, added or taken away any motion blur. It's interesting too to read the different views on this and on the original version which I posted last month. It just shows how different versions of the same original image invoke such different reactions. |

I agree with Barbara, Rick, it is a very sweet image. Having said that, I really like the image you put up in the original space. In particular, I like the strong diagonal feel and the man at the top who adds a stop to the eye. It's certainly got potential and, if it were mine, I'd work on it… |

This shot captures the spirit of the Drum Circle really well, Pete. Although you've cloned out the blown highlights in the background to some extent, personally, I would have continued to remove the remaining grey patches on either side of the drummer. Unfortunately, that still leaves the blown highlights on his fingers and left wrist. At this stage I suspect that there is nothing you can do about this but, in retrospect, you could have underexposed the image deliberately when you took if and adjusted the underexposed parts in post processing. |

This has a good composition Barbara and I really like the colour palette. The Cherry outside the bowl does add weight to the left-hand side and I think it would be good to crop off some of the negative space on the right-hand side to give it a better balance. Although you chose to use a shallow depth of field, personally, I think it would be better if you had everything in focus. There is still an issue of the blown highlights in the small specks of white on all the cherries. Given that it is a still life you could, perhaps, have considered capturing the image as an HDR shot to avoid this.

Thanks for your comment, Barbara. I'm always pleased to have people react to my images, be positive or negative, as photographs should, in my view, stir some sort of reaction in the viewer. I accept your view totally but it would be very helpful to me to know exactly what it is that you don't like about it. Please don't hold back, I won't take offence no matter what you say. |
