A very interesting image and it would be interesting to know its story. |

Great portrait of a most expressive face; there is both wisdom and dignity in it. Reminder that humans still make the most compelling images. |

Many thanks, I will give it a crop and post the results. Believe it or not, this is actually looking out of the house's grounds into the roadway. To be fair, it is a rather shady and calm country lane even if it quite close to the city of Birmingham (UK's second largest after London).
The house was originally an ordinary farmhouse but rebuilt about 100 years ago by a wealthy businessman. It also has wonderful tapestries which he collected with other art works. Thanks again for the comment.

A beautiful photo of beautiful birds!
I particularly like the 'textured' feel to the background - I am unfamilar with the Topaz software but it has worked well here. |

Thanks for an engaging image. As you have grasped, it all to do with the contrasts with the background. Perhaps the dark colour of the bird's head on the left is giving the greatest challenge. I was wondering of you could slightly lighten the region behind its head to give a very gentle halo effect would allowing an increase in contrast.
However, a fascinating picture. |
